In that time frame of the improved T, Ford introduced the inner seal for the outer bearing and machined room for it, sometimes when fitting a modern seal to earlier housings, you need to trim the sleeve back a bit to fit the outer seal so it will clear the hub.

Re: Crankshaft to block location
Dan, that can't work using the center saddle, it has a variable of 1/32 to 1/16"for expansion, by the book, if the 3rd saddle has no wear there is only a several thou clearance on the thrust faces of the crank to block, especially if fitting a new scat. That's all you have got to work with for endpl...

Re: Crankshaft to block location
A good block will have very little end play to work with as the 3rd saddle is the same length as a babbitted cap and crank length of 3-1/8" if the block has any wear, it will be in the front side so all that is needed is the cap to favor the front for extra thrust face when machined.

.040" grind is what I max out the crank at although I did come across a crank that had been ground 60 thou and had done many years of hard driving before it broke.

You will find that most gasket sets and tech information on any engine with cast iron head, bolts or nuts, will require re-torquing when engine is at operating temperature.

Re: Question about rods
All I do is model T engine rebuilds, I've never come across a matching weight set of rods yet in the 100 odd years of people trying to keep them going, even 1 or 2 cylinders being bored or crank journals ground different sizes.

Looks like a good fit if your T has an aftermarket compression whistle fitted.

It could have been fitted with Loctite, that will require heating up to get it to let go.

Constatine, records might still exist but to find is another story, I have some government department figures compiled by who knows who in 2003 which are just laughable  As for the story of Russian T;s, 31 May 1915 a story is published that Henry Ford announced that he had an order from Russia ...

Man! you are trying too hard to make it rocket science, set the lash at 10 in and 12 ex and be done with it and have fun driving the tread of the tires.

Re: Valve timing
Basically, setting by piston position was for worn cam shafts, rechecking the lash by feeler gauge and the variables are telling you that the cam is worn.

Jeff. I have not found that any steamers had been used after the Matatua was used for that last trip in 1915, despite Peters comment that the T's for the war effort came from the USA is not a fact, so it is possible they were bound for England in March 1916 4 sail clippers are listed doing trips bef...

The order of cars to fill the quoters of sales, the Wakatana, the second last steamer load to be sent to Australia, is due in Melbourne on August the 1st 1915. The next normal order of 720 cars for Australia was advised of the alteration in shipment, "will be brought to Australia per medium of saili...

Like I said, shipping records of the day will tell you more than what someone assumes or speculates much later for their version of history. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story. 1915, 4700 Fords delivered to Australia and New Zealand. The Matatua was the last cargo steamer leaving Can...

Peter, I don't buy those figures for a second, first off, Canada only built in 1914, 18771 T, s by 1915 the brits had taken control of shipping. The Ford model T in WW1 publication from July 1914 to Nov 1918, Briten alone had built up a fleet estimated between 20-30,000 T's 1914/15 NSW's alone, new ...

Yes, that was some interesting reading back in 2010. That article that Arthur Davies wrote in 1925 claiming the Australia had 5000 unsold T's always played on my mind so several years ago I did some digging on that claim but more so in shipping and politics of that time frame of 15/16/17. More paper...

If you read Langs part listing on these mounts, the holes need to be drilled and the belt slots to be filed.
