Re: Questions about shortening a drive shaft
Thinking out loud: Guess what you could do is once the drive shaft is cut and machined, assemble and install the rearend before drilling the hole for the rivet then rotate the driveshaft mounted to transmission, letting it find its center, mark where the hole needs to be. Drill and install the rivet...

If you are going to add thrust babbitt to the block too couple of way you could do it. Angle the face back top to bottom to lock the babbitt and/or drill anchor holes like the saddle for a mechanical lock.

Horns would be the same, it is just the bracket that is different. If you need the correct bracket, you might add that to the post. Good chance the bracket would have been removed and you would just be buying the horn.

Re: Maximum diameter of the main bearing cavities
When the Model A crank is used, you do cut into the top bolt holes just a little. When babbitt is poured, the bolt or locating pins will block most of the hole so only a little babbitt will get in. After the mold is removed, that can be drilled out. If needed, the putty used for blocking and damming...

Battery charger that used 2 rectifier tubes maybe.
For example, the KR Wilson used for charging magnetos and batteries had 2 rectifier tubes that depended on what operation it was doing, could use one or both. It does not have that gauge but just a suggestion.

You are putting new valves in, so changing the stem diameter would not be that much of a jump. Also consider how many miles the car was driven in the past to get any wear along with how many miles will it be driven in future.

You might try clearing your browsing and cache history, esp if you have not done it in a while. Sometimes old information get pulled up.

Re: 26-27 accessory tail light wiring and switch
A few use the 1928/29 Model A brake light switch mounted under the bottom band inspection plate screw with a bent wire connecting it to the brake pedal.

When did this get added: "* REQUIRED* Type and Year of Model Ts owned:"
I just noticed this today: "* REQUIRED* Type and Year of Model Ts owned:" in the profile's over on the right when looking at the postings. I check mine and also see it on my profile page. Did I miss an announcement? Does this mean if I no longer own or am looking to buy a Model T I can't sign up or ...

Re: Hassler Mounting bolt availability
The pan cake style bolt looks to be the same as what is on my Dodge Brothers set. The one tag that is still present on them, is the round style which I think is contemporary with the pan cake set. Mine still use the beehive springs so guess that using that style bolt made manufacturing easier.

Re: Source for Split Rivets for Cowl on 26 coupe
Unless you are doing a points car, use pop rivets. You would almost need to take the tank out to set the ones on top, that are behind/above it. Think 1 inch would be too long anyway unless you are going to cut them back after pushing through. They would only need to go through and roll over like ban...

Re: early fan on a 27 engine
Would be better if you re-ask your question on the main forum.
If the fan mounting arm is the later straight style, no it really should not matter. The radiators were the same size from 1924 to 1926.

Re: Parts suppliers
Hello, Can you know the suppliers "Howell’s Sheet Metal" ? https://www.fordor.com/index.cfm Does it still exist? or not ? Regards It does, but communication with them is spotty at best. From what I understand, if they have it in stock you might be ok, but if not, you will have to wait until they ge...

What I am saying is; an engine in good shape does not need "SPEED" to start. You have zero cranking speed when you get a free start.

Re: TT Rocky Mountain Brake Linkage
I am hijacking this old thread with another TT Rocky question. Does anyone know if you need longer hub bolts to mount the new repro Rocky kit for a TT truck? 1926 big drum of course, I don't think the kit came with any hub bolts. Yes maybe, as would add about 1/8" thickness to the original brake dr...

Re: Very slow cranking
With what sounds like good compression, which would mean good suction, unless it has vacuum leaks between the carb and block; couple of good pulls to prime you should only need to pull over top dead center to fire off and start esp. if you are running coils.

Possibly some one adapted a gross jet designed for a different carb.?? Post pictures. The problem will be more obvious. Except for maybe Mac's, not aware of any T parts supplier that does not speak "American" English here in the USA when you call them. ;) Glad you got good service from a maybe little used parts supplier. If you go to MTFCA home page, there are a lot of other suppliers then the big 2 or 3. That's why ...

Re: NH and Hot Tire?
The NH, Ford, Simmons, NH vaporizer, Western Auto should all use the same float valve. Should not matter if ball or needle type. I think at this point you need to add some photos of what you are working with. The Holly G and Kingston used different sized float valve housings/needles, with different ...

Re: NH and Hot Tire?
Not sure why they would ask to specify, the needle and seats should be the same, Langs only shows one. RE not seating far enough down, make sure the old gasket(s) have been removed. They can stick up a little.

Re: Spark and Throttle Control Levers
I would suggest getting the issue with the steering column sorted first, then go to the radiator/hood. The 1/4" being short of entering the hole, would maybe need to be doubled or more in relation to how far off it is. Besides the body maybe being too far back, the wood mounting blocks might come in...

Then there are us guys with the rare Hasslers on our early Dodge Brothers. I don't know if these came with grease cup attached or not, they are the later round id plate and may have had the bolts replaced at some point with shackle bolts.
