FWIW, the Rux on my car looked good from the outside, but I had to replace virtually every component to make it right. Serious $$$$$$. I bought a roll of 18 gauge solid copper insulated wire today that is intended for thermostat wiring. It is rated for 150 volts according to the packaging, but that must be for very low current. Re: front wheel bearing grease
Larry nailed it. I use the yellow NAPA fibrous grease in many applications, and there are no more runny grease problems. There are other greases that stay put used for heavy equipment such as bulldozers, but my NAPA STORE is only 2 miles away.

Re: Question on babbitting
Coming in late on this, but I have heated cast iron prior to painting and actually had water dripping out of the castings. I would tin any surface I was pouring babbitt against, and do research to determine just how hot the block should be while pouring. Mike Bender has a video on this. Comments fro...

Re: Current Values of rebuildable Ruckstell
Mine looked great and was operational when I bought my car. I then changed the ruxtell's oil and found the dreaded gray mud. Everything inside was worn out. After replacing everything, and I mean everything, and emptying my bank account of thousands of dollars for parts and putting in lots of my lab...

Re: Ford Model K in 1998 at Sandwich, IL Show
The Ford radiator script on the car at the top is a very well done graphic. Is it a real Ford design? Did the Ford logo change during the early years, and are there records of the changes?

Re: Cranking an early hand crank T
Great video, has a good beat and is easy to dance to. But forgive me for being thick, how do you time the shots of air going into the cylinders? If you pressurize the engine through the spark plug holes, wouldn't the cylinders just cancel each other out? Does the manifold in the video have some sort...

Re: LEDs when turned off
There is a good article about this in the new Horseless Carriage Gazette. Apparently there are inconspicuous LEDs that have the right brightness (?) and color for pre-1916 cars and fit in place of acetylene burners. I imagine they would work in later cars as well. If you don't get that publication, ...

Brazing the steering quadrant
Hello, I am repairing my 1911 steering column for the upcoming driving season. The brass quadrant is extremely worn which allows the throttle and timing levers to move up and down at will. I thought about putting in a new reproduction quadrant, but discovered it is quite different from the original....

Re: Taking pictures of parts for sale or WTB
Good lighting is very important. If you are shooting something where colors must be accurate, try putting your setup next to a window to get natural light. You can light the side farthest from the window by covering a piece of cardboard with aluminum foil to make a reflector. Try holding it at diffe...
