I did an article on the different brackets for our club magazine over 40 years ago and the only bracket that was noted was this particular one. Hi Peter, can you repost it here? Interesting indeed. I can only comment on the RHD truck. Hi Mike, Yes, it is a full 'wrap' but with the ends cut in a chevron to match shape of the sleeve, just a shade shorter. As the shim goes right around the gap it closes is twice the thickness of the shim. It is also the full length (or width?) of the sleeve as well. Rear Axle Hyatt Sleeve (shim posi...

Re: TT Axle Bearing Sleeve dims?
Mike, when installing a shim (once you have the right size) make sure you have a hole punched in the shim to match up with the grease hole on the sleeve (or you won't be able to grease the bearing later). I clamp large 'jubilee' clips (hose clamps) around the shim and sleeve to squeeze them down and...

Replacement sleeves are pretty much junk, they wear faster than the seat of your pants sliding down a rock scree. My advice is DON'T use the new dealer sleeves but where possible use the 'best' old ones you can find. The shim goes between the sleeve and the axle housing and remember that the shim is...

You can joke about it, but losing cheques (NZ spelling) was a big deal for locals, especially older folk used to this method of paying. Stevens Timing Tool
Has anyone seem one of these or have them in their collections? It looks useful, but did it actually work? I would think NOT to use this when the engine is running as the little ball would be a blur to see I guess. But could be a bonus when turning over slowly as that would show both TDC and spark f...

Not sure how it works in the US, here in New Zealand a local general glazier made the screens up then sent them out to be hardened, they came back with 'safety glass' markings and all ready to go. General glaziers do safety glass regularly for architectural features, houses, fences etc so this is no...

Hi Mark,
I did consider that, but there are a lot so instead the website was linked. I have edited the link now to the YouTube 'Channel' page and you can access each video from there.

The chapter that this picture came from followed a wounded 'Tommy' from when he was hurt stage by stage through until he reached England. A very interesting description of the process. As such much of the detail was not given as to locations, just generic areas (i.e. 'the Somme'). Transport went fro...

The latest 'T' picture from the illustrated history of WW1 I have been wading through (more volumes still to read through yet).
Here we see a gathering of British T Ambulances, possibly newly delivered to the front?

Well Done
An enjoyable 20minutes, and overall I think a good job in presenting the T. I liked the light hearted tone, if I didn't have a T it almost makes me go and find one
Nice to 'meet you' Darren, and it seems you had a ball doing the video too
Cheers

Great find Kevin,
Probably just use furniture polish. I assume she will remain garaged and not be left outside, so the exposure would be limited.

Thanks for the suggestions and ideas. Yes, I have had experienced driving with one cylinder out, timing askew and coils not working. This is not like those experiences. Luke has kindly used my coils for testing as part of his timer project, and another friend has run them through an old hand crank t...

I took the roadster for a spin, I think I was lucky to get home. She gradually started shaking until it was barely drivable. Fires on all 4 and shakes at all speeds. Vibrates even when stationary .... Methinks an issue in the flywheel or transmission .... It will have to wait for March next year bef...

Re: Musou black
Black! I suspect that is a 'flat' black paint, which is a little 'furry' to the feel. There is another name for the almost velvety finish - a paint expert may be able to 'chip in' with that ;-) It has no gloss element at all which gives it the 'extra black' appearance. Usually that style paint is fr...

All good points. As to asking a common question... The very fact that a common question is asked, demonstrates that the questioner is most likely unaware that it's a common question and therefore can't be blamed for not knowing to "look it up" or research it because it's been asnwered 10 dozen time...

Re: Straightening Emergency Brake lever
The correction method may vary according to where the lever is bent. I'd bend it cold, using two large crescent wrenches. Close one around the lever adjacent to the bend. Close the second wrench over the first so that it is at right angles to the bend you need, and haul away. These two wrenches mak...

Re: Does the axle get bushings where the wishbone and spindles go in?
Once you have sorted the axle, then work through the whole steering system as well. 'Wobble' can come from worn drag link bushes, tie-rod bushes and even steering box bushes. Slop in each soon add up to a lot of slop when driving.

Hi Joshua, Well, I am biased towards keeping the original patina as much as possible. Its only original once ;-) Rubbing down with oil is not a bad idea - it works, but needs regular application. Perhaps use a phosphate based rust treatment for the bare metal. There are many brands, and I do not kno...

Re: Help with a gas gauge question
Hi Jerry, Thank you for posting your question. To summarise the above comments: the gauge is for a Ford Model T car between 1909 and 1925. (At that time a 'Ford' car meant Ford Model T). It will fit any model of the Model T, as they all used the same gas oval gas tank (very early cars used a 'round ...
