Is the hole in the pedal that the linkage goes through worn out?

Mine was worn almost through. Decided to overhaul the hogs head, removed the pedal and welded up the hole and redrilled. Works great now.

At the risk of someone telling me I did it all wrong, I built a drill jig for repairing head bolt holes. I am building a similar one that fits the Heli Coil tap so the holes are straight when finished.

Me thinks the wrong ball size was used for the hitch. I'm not saying stuff couldn't have bent and broken free, but I think the lift wheel would have been bent or damaged first. Bump. Wayne, I don't want to take it apart until I find some pistons, But I do have all the tools to measure bores and tapers. Based on my experience, the .0025" will drop in no issues, the .005" would definitely have to be checked for the precise issues you state. Im just looking for a band aid fix...

I was out investigating the issue. Rechecked rods, 1-3 (3 dip pan so no #4 was checked). Those three rods checked in at .0012-.0015" via the plastigauge. Thanks guys! That gives me something to work with.

I wish I could find a decent set of seat bottom springs that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg. But for now, this is what it will have to be. The seat is pretty comfy actually, it just was made to tall.
