Re: strange noise from the rear axle

If you don't know for a fact that your rear axle doesn't contain old Babbitt thrust washers, you have to open it up and find out, whether that's the source of your thunk or not. Chances are, it is. If this is your first time you will spend more than a day on it. Don't be intimidated. It ain't rocke...

I am not excluding an engine pull, I would prefer to examine all outcomes first rather than doing that. Would a conversion to a 12v starter avoid the engine pull? Going to 12 volts opens a new set of problems that won't address the starter jamming. The Bendix assembly can't take the shock of 12 vol...

My 12 Volt Power Pack seemed to mind a lot and will no longer take a recharge.
The starter motor can handle it, but the Bendix won't for long.

I use clear RTV on hose connections. Seals well. When it is time to remove just twist/rotate the hose and it comes off easily.

What Bud said. Also it is good to squeeze the handle on the hand brake when pulling it back. It reduces wear on the ratchet.

I put the front and rear brackets from Lang's on my 26 Tudor. The front brackets just needed a little grinding to have the clearance to mount in position. The rear was a different story. I had to dissemble the brackets cut a wedge in them to make the bend to to the frame holes. Welded the cut back u...

Or.....(Maybe I need a new compression gauge). A...

The instructions that came with the kit (anvil, punch and drill) for the tube rivets on the brake shoe have the head on the metal side, and the tube is on the lining side. Rivets are installed after the lining is drilled and counter sunk. https://www.modeltford.com/item/2566RVTL.aspx

I used one like that many years ago (late 1960s) Great for grinding valves. The vertical lever mover the wheel in and out and the lower crank the engagement to the valve face. The seat grinding setup I don't see but it is like an electric drill with stones and a guide to stay centered on the seat.

Does it continue to drip or stop after a bit? If it stops after a short time it may be you are set a bit rich and it is fuel coming back down from the intake manifold. Does it immediately stop when you turn off the fuel valve?

Part of a leak down test is to listen for where the leak is from. Listen at the crankcase will tell you if it is ring leakage, and listening at the intake and exhaust points will tell you if it is a valve leakage.

If either tank needs lining some radiator shops do an excellent job. They will hot tank your fuel tank, then apply an ethanol resistant liner compound. They may cut a couple holes to inspect for complete coating then seal the holes. We have a shop in Huntsville AL that does this.

Re: Banging noise from under the car...

Not sure this test works on a T, but on modern cars to test a u-joint lock the parking brake and going from forward to reverse. So engage the parking brake then lightly press low pedal , then reverse. If it is the u-joint you would hear a clunk as the slack is taken up in the joint.
