Also, its a good idea to bolt thru the bearing flange between the wheel studs into the wheel hub to lock the bearing flange to the wheel hub. Relying on the wheel studs to do ...

Clamp the halfs together and mic the od 90 degrees to the parting line. If they don't measure near 1.375 they will be loose in the block and let the cam move around. Very few used shell pairs are not worn out.

I always enjoy looking at the parts and pieces of the letter cars, and compare them to the later T parts and pieces. The similarities are sometimes very obvious and you can certainly see that the design style did not change that much when the T was created. Thanks Rob for sharing!

Re: "Remember Pearl Harbor!"
My daughter attended the University of Arizona, and the mall on the campus has a full size outline of the hull of the USS Arizona imbedded in the lawn.
It is a very humbling experience to stand there on the mall and read all the plaques for the sailors that died that day.

Re: OIL PAN DIFFERENCE
You must use a 26-27 hogshead in order to run a wide brake band- the band lug spacing won't allow an early hogshead with a wide drum trans and wide band. Non- 26-27 hogs heads must use a narrow brake band, regardless of the brake drum width.

Re: Front Axel
To clarify what Chad wrote above- this is a problem only when the axle is used with a suicide front end arrangement - when the front spring mount is moved upward to create the drop- this method drops the centerline of the crankshaft to where it intersects a stock height front axle, which causes the ...

Crank should be centered on the center main saddle. If you do this, the rear main saddle will be centered on the crank thrust surfaces. The rear block saddle should not contact the crankshaft thrust surfaces if the crank is positioned properly.

Re: Unusual rear hub failure
Scott- the Ford rear hubs are steel, not CI. The front hubs are malleable iron. This is a classic fatigue failure that is due to repeated bending cycles. Ford must have recognized this failure mode was possible given the generous radius in the corner of the flange which prevents a stress riser that ...

Re: Unusual rear hub failure
Just to add to Ed's explianation above. If you think about the forces on the flange, the outer wheel plate, when securely bolted to the face of the wood spokes, effectively carries a radial load against the wheel hub, preventing the hub flange from reversed bending in a turn. If the outer plate can ...

You can always cut the 1/2-18 spud off of the outlet and tap the hole for a pipe thread and then use a pipe thread to tube flare adapter.

They all need to weigh the same. Best to check big end and total weight to see how much variation you have. How did it run? Weld a small strap across the broken out section so you can use your hub puller. Then heat up the hub with a torch and retry pulling it off.

One suggestion on your chain- one wrap of the chain will limit your rotation to less than 360 degrees. You might consider two wraps of chain that will allow you to go all the way around with no restrictions.
