Re: Adapting MODEL ‘A’ transmission to ‘T’ Engine
I would seriously consider connecting the T transmission brake to the T clutch mechanism to make getting into low and reverse easier when stopped. The concept was common in the early days of Semi’s , especially prior to synchromesh. I would just use the narrow cotton band that only put enough drag o...

I do a lot of things just for the creative FUN!
I’ve been doing stuff like this since I was a kid and fortunately I was able to make a career out it.
I will try to post more pictures tomorrow (-35 here this morning, but supposed to be about freezing tomorrow afternoon)

Re: 2 piece Full Floating Rear Hub
The problem with “the Ford method” is that the proper Hyatt bearings are getting REALLY HARD to find. The reproduction solid rollers are only suitable to use on the inboard end of the axle. Using them by the wheel is a recipe for trouble/disaster! So yes I use the Hyatts when I have enough good ones...

I agree with Kevin.
However how loose does the bearing fit on the inside adapter? Looks like it might be worn there (although my eyes might be deceiving me)?
If it is a CLOSE slip fit then all good!

This car is certainly capable of that on the highway. I personally only had it to 75, but the guy I sold it to got a ticket at 92 and he had backed off!!

The line bore machine that I have used for 20 years or more. The “link” system assures me of correct gear fit.

3.937” is the optimal spacing for good gear mesh! I can post a picture if you want.

Re: Note to self: Make sure the boring bar is center in bearing...
I am wondering when you say “seated against the false cam”. I always use a “link device” to ensure correct gear mesh, as the camshaft bores have quite a bit of vertical variation!!
Just a thought.

I have soldered a number of gas tanks.
Here is a bit of science; to have combustion you need an air to fuel ratio of no richer than 10-1 and no leaner than 14-1.
Hollywood does us no favors when it shows someone flipping a cigarette at a open gas tank and the car explodes!

Re: Idling in neutral for extended times, is it an issue?
Some options to consider;
1. If you have an auxiliary transmission like a Warford, put it in neutral and leave it in high.
2. Put the rear axle on some Good jack stands again leave it in high.

#4 cylinder runs considerably hotter than #1.
#3 runs hotter than #2. This is the reality of the engine cooling system.

Re: Official javelin catcher thread, voltage regulator
A method that I have used as follows;
1. Disconnect the ground connection of the field winding and bring it out.
2. I then connect it to a reostat installed in the dashboard and connected to ground.
3. Now I can adjust the charging rate depending on condition ( lights, speed, distance driven)

Re: Official spear catcher thread, voltage regulator
If you study the generator on your 50 Ford you will see that it has two connections on the generator. One is from the armature brush (the output) and one is from the field coil. If you remove the “third brush “ connection from your T generator and bring it out, this you will connect to the regulator...
