Re: What have you done to your T in October?

Tomorrow I will be draining everything motor and Warford related so I can pull the engine and Warford. The clutch; pins are below the surface so the adjusting screws are going in to the hole. I think the pins may have started working under the drive plate and are jamming the clutch part way engaged....

Re: Fun Projects VR Alternative?

You could use it, but would require rewiring the generator.
Just get the diode type that fits your ground. The suppliers all carry them and that would be my choice over the current original style.

Corey, if you get a chance could you take a photo of the back side of the Overland rear hub? Might be what I have.

Re: Model a judging standards book

What is the date on the next page? It has been updated several times. There some updates between the 1997 edition and the major updated No 4. If this is the 1997 edition would still have some good info in it. Between the 1997 and current, the name was changed to Restoration Guidelines & Judging Stan...

Re: Motorcycle Oil

If you have oil getting to the seats, time for some valve work. ;) Zink was added when the higher pressure springs started being used in the 50's, to help prevent wear between the lifters and cam.

Re: Stuck tie rod end?

In such a key position, I would not use a heli coil. If it came out while you were driving, you could lose your steering. When the wheels toed in it could cause you to flip end over end without warning. How would it come out while driving? It is locked on the top by the tie rod bolt and bottom by t...

"Am I setting myself up for failure here?" I am going to say yes. There is a LOT of centrifugal force being applied esp when you add the oil to the mix. Even just having the teeth on the ring gear moves a lot of oil around.

Re: Can someone tell me about these wheels?

Chevrolet Jaxon wood wheels mounted on Ford hubs. Jaxon used loose lugs with their name on them and you will see the backside of the felloe, the hole for the bolt has an oval shape not square and in the front there is a slot for the clamps ears to fit into.

Chevrolet. Can be redrilled as the hole is on the other side of the lug and used on a T. Hayes made wheels and rims for other cars too, Chevrolet used 30" tires for a time.

Re: A Procedure for Stopping a Model T Engine

Turn the key off, retard the spark lever, lift hood shut off gas. I have never worried about long term storage as I generally try and run the cars up to temp at least once a month and drive them some too. The only snake oil in the gas is what came out of the pump. ;)

It also has later 16 inch wheels so they drop it down some. (Model A's were 21 and 19)

Even with the electric starter, the Ford manual suggested starting on magneto. Mine will start fine even without advancing the lever 4 notches on magneto.

Made some good headway on the coil box. Won't be finished until I get a new soldering iron

I would not suggest doing any soldering with the parts assembled. The stuff is water proof but not sure how soldering iron proof it is.

When the switch is turned to battery, you will only hear one coil sing if the rotor is in position to close the contact for that coil in the timer. Then as the crank is turned, you should hear each coil sing in the proper firing order, 1243.

Knowing the year is not going to help. Who knows what style wheel may have been on or replaced in the last 95 years. Can you post a photo of the felloe area where the lug goes? Are the other 3 wheel felloes/rims all the same as in a set? Is it fixed lug or loose lug?

Re: Replacing spark control rod

What year? I am guessing it is the one piece casting so the whole casting has to come out of the tube after the 2 rivets are removed that hold it in, along with both rods which will require removing the arm on the throttle rod. This job should be done with the whole column removed from the car, not ...
