Re: BEST BRAKES?!

Hydraulic rear drum brakes using’50’s era components have been offered in the recent past. With cast iron brake drums and self adjusters and Bendix design they work really in all driving conditions. The drums are 10”, so they are almost invisible on 26-7 rear axle.

I drill a 5/32”hole in the transmission shaft about 3” deep from the flange and then a 1/16” hole sideways into it. Yes you need to drill in from the end of the crank flange until you hit the rear bearing hole.
I have also tubed the relief oil to the top of the bands , but probably not necessary

Re: Overhead installation

I had no problems installing the Roof 8 ohv on my 26-7 4 door. Yes I had to install a flexible choke cable and adjusting the mixture was no longer possible from the dash. And yes it needs a fuel pump! The 4 door of course has the fuel tank under the seat (the same as yours). A cowl mounted gas tank ...

I acquired this one in the ‘70’s and had it on a 4 door in the 80’s

It came with a adapter to install a stock T carb.
I got lucky and found this carb.

Like you, I had thoughts about Bonneyville and other events but I was warned that my ideas would not be acceptable. So I will just carry on at home.

Re: Going Dry for More Power

The one I have pictured is staying with oiled multidisc clutches! Borg Warner T35 automatic from a 68 Cortina. Couple of nice features are the air cooled torque converter and a cable kick down. I’ve done a couple of T engines using the T transmission with the flywheel NOT running in the oil. I oil t...

Re: Get your motor running!

Going with “fork and blade” connecting rods could be advantageous as then the cylinders line up exactly. Just a thought. This could also potentially allow the use of a stock 4 cylinder T camshaft. Just some thoughts

Re: Get your motor running!

You can acquire my T 5 main block patterns. They could be a good starting point. Certainly a bunch of the cores could be utilized. NO I am not going to take the project on!

Another option is to buy even bigger ones and then carefully file the ends to get the correct end clearance. I have done this once in the past. Works fine!

I have encountered 27 blocks that don’t have the throttle rod hole.
The oil filler cap provides plenty of crankcase ventilation!

Many 27 didn’t have the holes as they can with the vaporizer carb and the throttle rod goes across the top of the engine.

A couple of pictures of the propane carb and regulators that I picked up at a swap meet a couple of years ago. The plan was to install on a “vintage” generator I have.

Propane is a totally viable motor fuel that I have used in the past on vehicles including a forklift. I actually own a carb and regulator that would fit on my T!

Re: Original coil capacitors test 1.5 to 3 micro-farads

When I started playing with T’s in the 70’s I installed automotive “condensers” (typically late 60’s ford). I have now been running one set of coils for 40 years (or more) in my 27 roadster. This fall I put them on the Kosser test equipment and they performed very well. I have some more Ford condens...

Re: later coils in 13 box

Some options; 1. Make new boxes for conventional coils that fit the early style coil box. I made a set 20 some years ago! 2. Close the points on the early style coils and install a “master vibrator”. This would be the era correct solution! 3. Install a electronic timer (E or I timer) 4. I installed ...
