Re: Innerstin'

I thought up a very good way to keep the people moving without fuel, however it is yet to be developed. I used to coast down a hill on my wagon or on roller skates and thought what a good idea it would be to have a lever at the bottom of the hill and just pull the lever and the hill would tilt the o...

Re: Boards under the seat on a 1922 roadster?

I don't have anything between the gas tank and the seat on my 22, however, over the years, the seat springs can sag. It would be good to put either a metal panel there or a thin wood cover just to keep the seat from sagging. If you use wood, be careful when filling the tank not to spill on the wood....

Very convenient! If he breaks down, he can use the horse to pull our or to go for help. In those days there were no cell phones and if you broke down in a remote place it might take a long time to get help or walk for help.

One thing not mentioned above. This might or might not be a cause of the problem. How good is your front cam bearing? If it is worn, your cam could be off center or wobble back and forth just enough to compress the felt and cause a leak.

I grew up in the city, after the horse and buggy days, so have only been on a horse a few times in my life. The problem with the clutch is that he slipped the clutch and raced the engine as he was pulling me out. His car was a Nash and they didn't have very good clutches either. It was right after t...

He even has chains on the rear wheels. He needs to get the T started and try to slowly ease back onto the road as the horses pull him forward. I have had a few situations like that in a car with another car pulling. One time I was going up hill and the engine quit. I rolled backward in the dark and ...

Re: Firewall bracket 22 touring

Looking at the front view of your T it looks like the hood is a bit higher from the radiator on the left side (driver's side). I think that the chassis might be sagging on the right side. Hard to tell for sure because it is parked on a crowned road. You can block up the front of the body by putting ...

My 26 Roadster came with earlier top irons. It also has an after market rumble seat. I think the top looks OK, but if I ever need to replace it, I will look for the proper irons.

Re: Firewall bracket 22 touring

It is possible that the chassis has sagged on the right side. The torque of the engine and the pull on the driveshaft with the transmission brake can twist the engine in that direction. This combined with possible bumps of the axle against the radius rod all contribute to a sag on that side. So chec...

I was too young to actually realize what had happened. But this I remember of that day. We did not have a working radio at our home but my aunt and uncle came to our house. Re: Resurrecting a 1921-ish Touring

Do you still have the Ruckstell? If so, the left side has a large ball bearing and the gears and axle should not move toward that direction. If it is a standard rear axle, you could have a bad thrust washer. If you jack up both rear wheels, with the parking brake off, try pulling in and out on the w...

If you have not bought it, DONT! It can be fixed, but would take a lot of work just to get it useable, unless you only want to drive it without the top. It would not ever be a show car, or even a good "unrestored" You would need to know how to cut and weld metal and completely paint the car. The uph...

Unfortunately, if the wheels have been loose on the axles for a long time, your taper inside the hubs might have been worn down as well as that of the axles. You can buy shims from the suppliers which will fit on the shafts and if one shim is not enough to correct the problem you might need to buy t...

If you look at the brake drum very closely, it looks like a crack a little to the left of the crack in the low drum. Fortunate you found it because, an exploding drum can stop you in your tracks where you cannot even push the car off the road!

I agree with Scot. I don't know how the winters are in Vienna but I suspect it gets below freezing, so you should use some form of anti-freeze in the cooling system. If not you should drain the cooling system so the engine and radiator does not freeze and crack. However, draining will also cause inc...

Another thing I would add to the suggestions I posted above is a properly aligned 4th main bearing at the rear of the transmission. This is accomplished by straightening the crankcase, which can be distorted by crooked frame, or a hard bump of the radius rod joint or other blows which can distort it...

My suggestions. If there are not many steep hills a sedan would be cozy in cold or wet weather. You will need to pull the steering wheel and then remove the screw holding the cover and unscrew the cover. No I didn't, however I worked on some Open Wire leads. Not a problem if they are working lines, but if you disconnect them, they can shock....
