Re: This was trucking-Old Photos

Not only was it an imposing project but expensive. $250 for the pair of trucks. It took 12 years to get into a place I could work on it and 18 years to complete the rebuild. For those who haven't seen the photos of it here is this thread; http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/599638/653084.html?14665...

That is very true Dan. This photo of my YPC Bus chassis only gives a hint of the abuse these fenders saw. Fenderzz.jpg The lumpy texture was not anything I could straighten out. This is how the Model 10 was advertised. You can see the gas lights and the rear seat that was removed. I think Dan's illustration of the black and nickel lamps is more likely than T lamps. They don't look like they had time to polish brass.

The forum is a place where many of us can see the magic in what you just described. I was about 7 or 8 when dad took me to a "junk yard" to pick up some baby buggy wheels for a push car. A white picket fence and a creek running through the place with orderly stacked discards of all types is somethin...

Re: Another "tough" ID

I confess I looked at several photos before I picked up my Buick book. I believe the car behind the horses is a 1913 Model 31 Buick. 1913-Buick.jpg The horse does obscure most of the vital clues. The boot scrapes on the running boards seem to match as well as the little moulding between the center o...

Maybe Marvin could appreciate her ports but when Cuthbert called her portly she knocked him down and roughed him up.

She liked it less when he spoke of boring and stroking. Cuthbert's way with words was more appreciated by the Zebroids and Paraducks.

Maxwell built some pretty lumpy rear ends. While I can't see it clearly it does resemble some of these.

However the front of the car isn't as familiar.
I hope someone has a better clue.
Great photo. It might have been a quick car. The boys look pleased.

Rather than use good original dash brackets on a car with mismatched parts I decided to make some new brackets. These don't really show but I still wanted them to look right. By bending a 90 degree leg for one bolt and welding a tab on for the other it works like the original. WFbrackets.jpg WFbrack...

Wayne Sheldon, I can't thank you enough for that link. I had missed it when perusing the AACA site. I'm halfway through it but can hardly believe those photos. That motor is more similar than any of the White motors to my 45 HP bus motor. It's absolutely delightful.

Pair of kerosene sidelamps similar to Adlake

These lamps have no manufacturers markings but are similar to the Adlake lamps used on trucks during the mid teens and '20s. The body and lower housing are brass while the rest is steel. The lens is 4" diameter. The mounting is 3/8 UNC. They stand nearly 9" tall. I am asking $240 and will ship for f...

Now that is a fine looking delivery. I believe it is built on a Flanders 20 chassis. Maybe 1911 or so. The pin goes through the brake handle and then is riveted over. You will need to grind it or make it smaller with vise grips or a chisel before pushing it back through. This discussion may help.

Great photo. I was not familiar with the Gleaners although I'm sure they have been discussed here before. I thought I spied a Fordson gas tank and sure enough there is a Fordson tractor under there. I had one for a few years. (The tank, not the tractor.) It had a small section for kerosene for start...
