Gene,
I agree with you on the red for the acetylene gas hose.
If you look at the last photo I posted, the gas line hoses appear
much like the radiator hoses which are red.
Certainly not cream, or white, like the tires in that photo.
Do you have your Mangin mirrors?

Re: Plumbing Carbide Tank 1913 Touring
Gene, Covered in the link you have... There is only the one clamp and when I checked my car it was still in place so I used it. The only other piece is the brass "rear gas line" which is 44" long. One of the reasons Ford used small clamps was to avoid introducing air (oxygen) into the acetylene line...

The second photo above is very much like the early car I'll post below.
Other than being very dirty and the top not being on the car, seems very much the same.
Two pedal, 2 bolt mounts, lamps and all.
Also, seems the building in the background of both photos may be the Piquette Avenue Plant.

Alex, It seems like E&J was one of Ford's favorite lamp suppliers in the U.S. and location probably had a lot to do with it. I would imagine that Ford would use whatever lamps were available, in a pinch, to ship the cars. The well established E&J plant was located only 3 miles away from the Picquett...

The race entries for the Kirkfield Winnipeg Races, dated 17 September 1910, leave something to be desired. ;) The Motor Age Race Summary after the race clears up the Ford running in the 231 to 300 class.
