The old Sandrail has seen better days. The brakes are small but effective.

Re: Flying Model T

We have a guy in our club that uses his 26 roadster most of the time for a daily driver. He has had poor luck with modern cars, keeping them to pass emissions testing. So he always reverts to his Model T.

Re: OHV, OHC, DOHC Heads

I have seen that engine Pete at Speedway motors. There is also a 200+ mile an hour model a salt flat car that has two Subaru heads adapted to it. Many cool Ideas. All cost lots of money. King of the hill in Lincoln Nebraska runs an original speed head. 200 hp out of a model b engine. In that run of ...

Re: Wheel Shimmy on 1926

A place that is overlooked more often than not is the pitman arm. Pull the cotter pin out and make sure it is TIGHT. It may be snug but it needs to be TIGHT!!!!! I'm with Chad, probably also needs front end work. To set your toe in, scribe your tyres to get a true line to measure to. 1/16 is plenty ...

Re: shorten steering shaft

If you need a short steering shaft, then cut the end off of a full length shaft and re machine correctly. Safest way period. For an experienced machinist, piece of cake. When my father was bigger, he could have used a shorter steering shaft.

Re: starting an engine on a stand

Is that the car the engine goes in? I have a stand that someone had built out of a model t frame. I use a radiator no fan, for safety, so I can adjust the timer as needed and a fuel tank from a honda motor. Bolt the forth main in. After it is running you can test the transmission and brake. It...

Re: Do they make a self advancing distributor?

For my Model A, I found a marine mallroy distributor, that turned the correct direction. On a model T, If your building your own drive, direction probably isn't so important. I feel that my modern distributor on my race car helps its performance greatly, 26 deg full advance at 1800. My model T's all...

I agree with Jerry, and or it could be something to do with your coils, sometimes caused by being loose in the box. You can shim them a little tighter with a Popsicle stick.

Alan, To the best of my knowledge, all new starters engage the Bendix before the contacts are made to turn the motor. The Bendix isn't relying on spinning to engage.

Re: Dare we analyze my cracked crankshaft?? I say we do.. but INTELLIGENTLY

We had a crack similar to that on an equipment crankshaft. We ground the crack some just to get rid of the sharp edge running against the bearing , and ran it. It never did brake, but the bearing did go out again. This was done in frame.
