Nice photo of a Republic at work. I would say about 1919. The top is interesting. It looks like a ridged top with an extra bow supporting the front. No rear curtain or visible straps to hold the rear bow back. Some unique fabrication. T cowl lights and a spotlight rather than headlights. Perhaps som...

It is a great photo to enjoy. I would guess a '14 model sold before the new year. The body sides have been painted a lighter color, maybe red, for the lettering to stand out and attract attention. I do love to try to guess the coloring of these photos. Until I get time, here are a couple pieces of old ones.

There are several gaskets and lots of tools and equipment to ponder. I have saved head gaskets by putting them in water and freezing. A plastic bag outside in the winter will do it. The moisture expands the asbestos for another application.

In the first photo, the windshield appears to be '23-'25 but has hinges from an earlier one. Very unusual and a lot of work. Also, the occupants are sitting low in the seat suggesting well-worn seat springs. The mounting of the coil on the dash (firewall) is interesting too.

"The REO Model H Power Wagon had a total capacity of 1500 pounds. The one-cylinder, engine was located under the seat and sent power to the rear wheels through double chains."
Hard to believe a one-cylinder engine did so well hauling loads.
Must be the gear ratio.
Thanks Herb.

That is an interesting question, Herb. Cochise and Myrtle Klammetboffer did ride that Merry-go-Round whenever they were in town. Whether that is they or not is not certain at this time. The drug store across the street took photos of the cavaliers and offered them at cost. Names on the back would ha...

Sorry I can't get a better picture of my '25 Tudor which should be the same. I copied the original. The two springs are held with round head screws that go into the bottom of the wooden dashboard. There are holes in the metal dash cover to allow this. I will look for some better detail. Rich 25cwlVn...

We attempted one Winter race to Taylor Mountain Ski area. A fellow adventurist caught me giving a front tire more air. Gloves and a coat were an incumbrance to pumping. It is more likely KDs friend, Thomas Flyer from the Round the World fame. I thought for a moment it could be KD himself, but KD usually wore a beard and glasses. He did cut his hair like that one Spring.

Re: Throttle decelerate lag
Play can be cumulative. The link in the throttle hole, the spark arm hole and the tightness of the arm to the throttle rod all ad to the slop. Also the fit of the butterfly shaft in the carburetor are all suspect. I had looseness in all those places and very little travel until I attended to it.

Dave, I didn't ever use the A cam. The machining of it was a great challenge, but I moved on to other projects. It would have been fun to try it in my Roof 8 engine. Perhaps a future task.

Re: Fitting a Model A camshaft to a Model T
I machined an A camshaft to fit a T block. I simply machined the cam bearing journals (correction) to about 1" diameter and machined the front for a T cam gear. It took some wiggling and turning to get the cams to go through the bearing holes in the block, but it worked.
