Donnie and Allan, well sort of makes sense but for the mandrel size, leaving the shims out to lock up todays rods makes sense but back in the day, Ford didn't shim the rods so the mandrel must be larger than oil clearance to lock it up.

Keep thinking frame or pan ears because there's no way a pan can be out of alignment and the transmission move over a 1/4 of an inch unless completely having every bush destroyed or missing or the ball cap 4 bolt holes have been slotted over the 1/4"

Ford did stipulate how much lube was required although it can be a little vague and what year owner manual you read. Early Canadian just says fill with grease every 2000 miles. It would depend on year of the T, the diff needs to be a 1/3rd full by the book so early diffs has the higher filler plug which was the finger in the hole level, then in about 1919 USA and 1915 Canadian, Ford lowered the filler plug so that is the level height.

Usually period part numbers from the Canada and USA parts books do correspond with each other but when it comes to the tops, not so, you may be modifying things to fit.
Also what is evident in the parts books is that Canada started in 1920 with the 1 man top for touring and the USA was 1922.

They are the caps that Dodge supplied until Ford started casting his own in about 1914, they are found in Canadian blocks even in 1916. Any cap that falls short of the length of the block saddle should be cast as dodge did to have full bearing to journal cover.

Re: So has anyone on the forum fueled their T on Alcohol
Don't think for a second that the spark ignition internal combustion engine was designed to only run on gasoline/petrol, it just happened to be the cheapest way to go as it was no more than a waste product from refining of Paraffin and Kerosene from crude to replace whale oil. Several combustible ga...

Re: Propane conversion
Many a commercial engine run fine on gas, running at set revs on a regulated pressure, even from your BBQ bottle, is fine but when you want a variation of volume for variable rev range, then it has to be temperature controlled at the convertor to prevent icing.

Converting to LPG could be done but the converter requires a water pump and thermostat system to prevent icing up.

The hole on those caps was on the small flat side of the butterfly grip and then at 90 degrees on the inside, no baffle on the inside, common on Canadian T's.

Lot more to it than just getting the extra in the pay packet, the workers had to conform to the rules Henry set in working and his idea of life style and if you did then the extra was paid at the end of the year. So the story go's???

Turning will be firm, to spin one wheel will turn the other side in reverse because the clutch pack is dragging on the drive shaft.

Morgan, I've only ever replaced 1, for the life of me couldn't figure out on how to fit the rivets and machine the inside to still press the bush in, it was a tight fit on the tube, so I welded the sucker on.

Why assume that fitting a 8v is to rectify a problem, it's the cheaper way to go, no changing of anything other than amp adjustment, in my case it's for making it just that little bit better, starting high compression engine with out breaking anything, lighting and running turning signals with 12v c...

There was 2 specific type of people that Ford targeted with period ads for the T Coupe.
Starting with.
1909 Coupe, as "THE IDEAL DOCTORS CAR"
And later on for Coupes.
"AN IDEAL CAR FOR WOMEN"

In 1912, Ford put out a 13 page pamphlet titled "WHAT THE MOTOR CAR MEANS TO THE DOCTOR" In reading it it's not hard to see the reasoning on why the doctor preferred the coupe. Warmth in the cab. Ford claims a T could start in 10 seconds and up to 30mpg, a T would do 40 mph without taxing it's power...

Stev, my mistake. I'm thinking Canadian, my 16 is right angled single thimbles, back in 1915-17 Canadian parts books we had a choice of 2 head light bulbs, a 6v or 9v. I assume the wiring like you say for mag will loose both lights if one blows.

If so Dan I find that interesting, anything usually on Fords basic machining was in whole fractions. The moving and replaceable parts had the clearances.
