While you can buy the modern bearing replacement for the outer and inner bearings they are not safety hubs. You would have to cut the axle tube down in order to have enough room to mount the needed parts to install the safety hubs and flange plate the wheels mount to and keep the brake drums in corr...

Re: Can anybody ID this bar clamp?

It is a bench top drill. I have one all most exactly the same except, I would have to check, mine has feet. The wood was placed against the movable backstop and drilled by turning the crank to spin the bit and the hand wheel is the feed. Not sure that it is missing any parts, was more then likely he...

Except for the references to the Synoski winner and lens, everything shown so far is common for US cars and is not an indicator.

Untill one of the guys from up north chime in, the only difference might be; instead of stamped Ford they might have a Clasco stamp, but do not know for sure, just a wild guess. Other then that they should be the same. I don't recall seeing any cars from up north or other countries that had differen...

Re: Am I "over-greasing" my Universal Joint?

Depending on fit of 4th main to tail shaft and upper drive shaft bushing, grease will ether flow into the engine or down the drive shaft. More then likely will show itself around the piece that holds the bell to back of hogs head/pan, which is were it will leak out later making a mess on your nice f...

Re: Ford tire pump: Check valve?

I tried that and all that happened was the handle came back up and that was with an empty tube. Reading this leads me to think the springs may have been different, a little weaker then the ones we have now. My pump had a new leather so maybe not a pump issue. You pump would at some point have to ove...

Re: Am I "over-greasing" my Universal Joint?

Ya should have just installed a zerk fitting and pumped it in. Would not have to removed it when done. Empty should be the good part of a tube of grease to fill. You need to shoot a little in the small cup on the drive shaft just to be safe, it greases the bushing. 13 caps full, not even getting clo...

Hey Mark, kinda curious about your experience shipping a car to the EU... how did you ship it, what costs and paperwork were involved, etc.? We're contemplating going there on a semi-permanent basis (in our case, Italy  ), and I'd rather take my car (that I know and love so well) rather than...

In the mean time and if you want to drive the car, two 3/8 X 1" to 1-1/4" fine thread bolts with lock washers will work fine. I have used them like that in the past and do not recall having any issues.

Chances are it has swollen with age and will get broken when trying to remove. It's not black it's dirty, they were a pot metal and would have been about the color of dark aluminum. Heat will just melt it. You could try good penetrating oil, not WD40. Seems to me someone was just looking for one bec...

Do you have the column out or are you trying this still in the car? If you have not pulled out of the car, it can be done without pulling the arm.

Re: Rotating Mass, Available Horsepower, and Acceleration

In the Model A world, loosing weight off the approx 63lb flywheel (36 vrs 63), you gain acceleration and top speed but lose at the bottom end, easier to stall. Must be a flat head V8 owner, because he talks about K member. I think you could take the crankshaft and driveshaft off the list re reducing...

Re: HELP!!! SHOULD I USE A WATER PUMP??

I have read in the past that using distilled or pure water with a neutral PH, it will leach from the surrounding metal till it reaches a PH in balance with it's surroundings. So any deposits on the inside will contaminate the liquid. Which may or may not be a good thing. ;)

My passages were getting plugged up on the aluminum adapter plate between the cast iron block and head. ...
