So, we meet the first Thursday of the month. Since it was January 2nd it was lightly attended. We had 18 people where we usually have in the 25-30 range....

Hi all, we had a very cool tour this past Saturday through the North Chagrin Metroparks in Northeast Ohio. Our club, the Bumps'n'Grinds, is smaller in numbers, so we invited the Northern Ohio Model A Club and a few other VIPs (an Overland and a Willys-Knight). I saw this tool at a friends place, it had the Ford script stamped on the upper part of the handle so i did some research on it. Apparently sometime in 1913-14 time frame Ford used this tool in their service operations. Does anyone have any further documentation on it? Attached is a picture and the only info I could find related to Fords use.

Bridge Washers

by
Original Smith » Sat Oct 04, 2025 6:57 pm

The current bridge washer offerings are not made correctly. They got the thickness and shape correct, but didn't do the stamping correctly. Why? There is a round stamping around the stem hole to help the bridge washer seat on the tube. Is there anyone anywhere, that is capable of doing this?
Last post
Larry,
It is not that they are reproducing the bridge washers wrong, it is that those bridge washers are made for modern truck tire inner tubes, not Model A's or Model T's. They may be similar, but they are not the same, and as people are finding, they do not fit the original clamp on style metal stems or tires.

I locked my keys in a 2004 GMC pickup, and used a 24 pipe wrench to attempt to break the passenger door window with no success. Hi all, I have a problem... (well, we won't get into the mental stuff here...)
About a month ago I took my 1914 Touring car for a nice 100ish mile run. Ran beautifully. I stopped by a friends place to give him and his family a ride. I am always surprised by how much the weight of a few people, or even just one passenger effects the performance....

you mentioned that you had good strong spark when plugs are out of the car but no spark when IN the car
I am going to assume you have concluded this because 2 cylinders are not firing as indicated by shorting the plugs out with a screwdriver and the car remained operating the same when 2 specific plugs were shorted...If I am correct in...

This morning I went out to adjust my low band, from above. Of course I had to remove the mat, and floorboards. It took me about 30 seconds to adjust the low band, but what happened is I wound up holding field day on everything I could see! Oh well, it needed it.

This is my 1925 pickup. I've driven it over 1000 miles recently without lifting the floorboards. It was worth it.

Another excellent edition of Vintage Ford arrived yesterday. On pages 40-41 the author describes how to make a three-inch-long extension for torquing head bolts near the firewall. He concludes the article by saying No, the added 3 does not change the amount of torque applied. No explanation is given, but it seems to me this extension could...
Last post
Since half the time forum members can’t agree on torque specs it’s probably not a big deal.
Andy
Torque spec aside, wouldn't a simple solution be to use the extension when tightening ALL of the headbolts, not just the headbolts near the firewall? Wouldn't that guarantee uniformity?

What have you done to/with your Model T in September?
Made a sleeve between the timer and the adjustment rod; used grease. There was that much play. (background is 60 grit)
I had used screws with a plus + in order to attach the rain gutters to the top wood and tried to hide my sins with some black silicone.

I drained the 2 year old fuel and bought a new battery. I'll hopefully do more when I feel up to it.

Check out rbauction.com for a list of cars selling in White Bluff Tennessee. I think I counted 59 Model T's in the listing. It looks like something for everyone with only a handful of project cars.

Sorry: the link I sent has pricing on my phone cause I was registered for the auction.

Hello.
I recently bought a 1927 Tudor and I am now trying to figure some things out.
One of them is the distributor. I have searched 'the whole internet' by now, but I can't find any information on this:

Good way to store the hood?

I searched the forum but didn’t come up with much. Does anyone have a slick way to store the hood when it’s removed for maintenance or repairs? I’d rather not have to disassemble it but also don’t have the room to just sit it on edge on the floor.
Last post
I place it sitting verticallly on a piece of carpet, or cardboard, or even grass. Folding it in a sort of W configuration.

Asking for a friend If a fellow was to find an all original 13 runabout actual barn find what would you think the body would be worth? It has a little rust through in one corner but the wood and everything else seems solid. I'm trying to work a deal and It's taken apart. I will probably part it out. What do you guys think?

Looking for a Holley NH carburetor that is not rebuildable. Any fittings or parts such as

RAJO head gasket questions

by
Reno Speedster » Sat Sep 27, 2025 1:19 pm
First post
I am preparing to install my original RAJO BB head. I had planned to use a copper head gasket and I ordered one from a supplier. But what came was a copper composite gasket rather than a sold copper one. My questions are:
1) are solid copper Rajo head gaskets available and from whom?
2) if they are, is it worth getting one, or is the composite...
Last post
Run the composite gasket- sealing a solid copper head gasket on a T motor is problematic due to the lack of sufficient head bolts to develop sufficient clamp pressure. The composite gaskets are pretty much trouble free. Coating them with white grease before installation works well. Spraying them with Copper Coat works well also, but you will...

Why are there 2 different height switches? The short version is about 2 tall from the mounting plate. Early type has 2 screws holding the switch body to the mounting plate.(all short?)
The taller version is about 2.5 tall. There are both short & long versions that mount with 4 bent tabs to the mount plate.
Plus there are extension caps that add...
Last post
So the presumption is the short switch was used on enclosed cars. Open cars have a switch extension.
What about the tall switch?
Looked @ a few T's I have easy access to. 23 touring uses a short switch with the extension.
27 coupe uses the tall switch. With the thick carpet, the switch is well placed with the button just above the carpet top.
27...

Are 30x3-1/2 gray tires still being made? Where can I buy?
Last post
I bought 5 Universal white tires 13 months ago. Each has developed random brownish stains now. I thought to replace with all gray tires, perhaps wishing for aesthetic relief. I suppose I could wait another year for the tires to be completely stained brownish, at least the appearance would be consistent. Or paint all with white tire paint.

This is for sale at an auction in my neighborhood. I do need a new radiator but not sure if buying a brand new old one is a good idea. I imagine the modern remakes are better functionally. I checked it out and its a tall one measuring 18.5 to 19inch or so. was hard to measure in the crate. I do believe this is a real one because the original owner...

I’m wondering how “old” the radiator actually is. The packing crate doesn’t look that old to me. Are we sure radiators were put in crates with the net wire braded on that way. The crate looks more modern than the radiator. In no way am I a forum expert as they say.
But the crate looks questionable to me. Another example of people thinking any old...

I am restoring a 1914 T that will be getting a new firewall. When I restored our 1911 Touring, I used Laurel Mountain Forge antique cherry stain, based on recommendations on the forum site. It really is a good match for the original stain Ford used, when comparing it to the portions of the firewall that had been hidden for over 100 years.

I read on another rifle stock refinishing forum that the website and business Laurel Mountain Forge has been shuttered since April, because the owners wife passed away. The son was rumored to have an interest of taking over, but it doesn’t seem likely at this point. The various custom stains were prized by the rifle community, and all sources have...

Not exactly what you think. Last night I tried starting my '26 for the first time in two years. I tried charging the battery, but it was taking it's time getting there so I decided to try my luck at crank starting it as the coils were buzzing. I got it to 'pop' a couple times and even got a 'free start' once, but it didn't start. The question I...

Excess cranking will heat up the cables, but they should not get extremely hot. With any electric starter on any vehicle, it's best not to engage the stater for more than 10 to 15 seconds at a time. Doing so can overheat the starter windings. If the engine doesn't start within a few seconds of cranking, it's best to stop cranking and find out why...
