I am thinking about getting a set of 30 x 3.5 for my 24 Touring. They quoted me a price of around $1,050 for s set of four shipped to Texas. Before ordering, I would love to hear first from anyone who has used them on there Ts and what they thought of them. Thanks

Who's going to the Southwesrtern Brass & pre-war swapmeet event? I talked to Rich the other day He committed to the facility before the change to Tulare. So He's going forward with the event, He has a lot planned. This has the potential to bring a big event to Arizona.

O.K. Everyone, the even is next Saturday and you need to be at this fantastic event. Rich has been working very hard to make this swap meet and tour a success and to make sure everyone will have plenty to do and see and just plain have a good time. Bring your car to show off, show everyone what this hobby is all about.
Hope to see all the people...

Curious whether any early 1909 Tourings were detailed with Black accents the way the Red Touring was. This would be seen on the fender and body welts, as well as the door frames. Hard to tell from some original photos where even the red body pin stripes are difficult to see.

I am starting a pie wagon project and plan to have interior lighting which will recuire 12 volt system. I have read the posts suggesting that running 12 volts to the starter is hard on the flywheel and ring gear. My question can I have my 6 volt starter converted to 12 volts and if so would the converted starter be as hard on the fly wheel?
Last post
I originally installed a stock 6 volt starter and used it with my 12 volt system. I put the battery under the back seat and ran #4 wire to the starter which should have resulted in some voltage drop under load. With some misgivings, I followed the advice of some folks I respect and made a little pigtail from the solenoid (yeah, I used a solenoid)...

I have a frame that appears to be a '25 ( only 2 rivets on on hand brake pawl ) It has a serial number C726397, does the C indicate Canadian? Also the front crossmember is located on top of the side rail instead of above, and the side rail is stepped to allow for this. Can anybody shed some light on this ?

Thanks, yes I am starting to think it may have had some changes to suit some ones needs. Frame is super nice condition with only mild surface rust. It may end up under one of my cars.

What is a Bimel wheel? I have one. See the picture stamped into the wheel it says Bimel 2-25.
Last post
Absent finding a Bimel car, which seems unlikely, I suppose you could obtain a Humber Super Snipe and use the orphan wheel to make a nifty 50's-style continental kit for the Humber. A well crafted continental kit featuring a wood-spoke wheel would add a custom flair than could hardly be beaten to an otherwise somber Humber Super Snipe saloon.

The plug is typical Ediswan type, with the dual in-line nubs to twist and lock in the socket. Bayonet style.
These plugs could be had in rubber (plastic today) plug or metal banded.
The metal band holds up better, but cost more in the day. Used mostly for plugging to sockets for trouble lamps or dash lamps.

I suspect you did not lose the woodruff key. I think it was not placed the last time the bendix was replaced on the starter shaft. Jim, to get .040 I presume you used two .015 and one .010 shim. If this is the case, you now have 4 interfaces between the ring gear and the carrier where the original design is for one. Maintaining a firm and tight fit between the two components is now seriously compromised. The most likely scenario is that the clamping force afforded by the 10...

I have Kevin's head on my engine I just started up. I was worried about the high compression. I am glad to hear it is not actually that high. I have not driven yet, only break in running.

OK so my engine is in and the motor mounts are bolted as well as the front. My Radius Rod needs to go back about an inch. Someone recommended jacking up the rod and it should pop in. I just bought a 1913 Model T and I am going to pick it up this weekend. I only have hooks in the corners of the trailer so I was planning to run the straps around the axles of the car to hold it in place inside of...

Bryan,
If your title says 1913, I wouldn't go to the SOS and ask that they change it. That said, Michigan usually titles a car by the Model year, not the year of manufacture. Being built in 1913 your car probably has both '13 and '14 parts --- as time passes you will become more educated as to the unique features of your Model T. If the engine is...

I agree it would be better without the modern hardware, but you can easily replace the Phillips screws and put on a brass cap nut in place of the hex nut.
While a mirror on a Model T may not be rock steady, it doesn't have to be. As long as it shows you what's behind you, you don't need to see the details.

The engine ties two spark plugs together in series, 1 and 4, or 2 and 3, for each spark delivered.
So whenever 1 gets a spark, it is shared with 4 and vice versa.
I think it's actually two plugs in Parallel, small detail except in Parallel one fouled plug does not compromise spark in the other as would be the case in a series circuit. Best, jb

In 1979 I had a 69 Torino Cobra with a 428 CJ engine I had purchased from a friend. It had 35K miles on it. That same year another car buddy told me about a dark blue 67 Shelby Mustang for sale at the local Sinclair gas station. I went over there, took the Shelby around the block to check it out. What a car! The owner told me he would take my...

Joe Lappin Jr passed away this week at 91.
Most don’t know him as he was more regional/local.
How was a hero. Out of nowhere at age 80, Joe decided he wanted to own and drive a Model T for the first time! And he did!
He found a restoration in progress in an estate, bought it and proceeded to have the restoration done-his way.

What Barn find would you like to find and buy.
I assume we are looking for early Fords, but do not limit yourself to Model T Folrds. My choice would be a Model K, perhaps a late production one. My other choice would be the original engine from Model T number one, for the original engine was replaced soon after assembly.

When I took these apart to get re-lined seemed the first pictured narrow band for reverse had the two straight slot ears and the second narrow band for slow speed had the two rivets. Does it matter which narrow band goes on the related drums, any input would be great.

The purpose of the detachable ears was to make it easier to replace the bands when sliding them in place with the ears removed

First correct answer. Only one clue, it’s T Ford related. The first correct answer can have a choice of one of our spring loaded oil can holders, or my left kidney. I’m still using my right one. 3B0EF058-56E3-4466-A36B-BE903B4A18E5.jpeg

Danny, Since you don't have to adjust idle after you get it dialed in you could simply attach a wire or other method to prevent it from rotating until you find one of the barrel retainers. I didn't realize those round barrel types are so fragil.
I have plenty other things to do until parts get here. But not long and she will be on the road!

There are several videos of installing new upholstery on u tube but none show what I need to see. They only show how to put the material onto the springs of the bottom cushion. How do you secure the backrest to the body? Is the upholstery secured to the backrest or only to the body? What keeps the backrest springs from moving around after you...
Last post
Doesn't address a 1921 Touring specifically, but these may be somewhat helpful:
Regarding keeping the backrest spring pack in position, it is suspended by straps that are tacked either to the wood support slats (for cars that have them), or from the upper tack rail (for cars where the spring pack sits directly on the metal seat back).
