Anyone ever come up with a good way to rebuild the worn cam ramps on pedals? Hate to scrap a bunch of them if way to repair. Thanks Dan
Last post
I went through this a few years back. I built the area back up with weld and then used a die grinder to get it back to the original geometry. It’s been working fine since.
I started a thread here (Rejuvenating cam on clutch pedal) but I didn’t post photos of the result. I’ll see if I can find photos of the finished part.

It's always fun, to me, when working on the T, to look for where there is 'Ford' stamped into each and every part. I thought this would be a fun thread to have, posting pictures of all the 'ford's on our Fords. :)
Here's one, on a rear axle shaft.
Where's the ford on your car?

In this hobby, I got the name Original Smith because of that. I was in my early 20's and was always looking for NOS parts with the Ford script. There was a junk yard in Gardena, that had bins of parts that came from an old store in Los Angeles called HENRY'S and LIZZIES. That is where I used to find a lot of those parts. Just for the record has anyone had issues with running synthetic motor oil in their model T? I never have not knowing it's effect on band function
but modern automatics seem to be OK with it & that is the same principle in function as far as bands go.

I have 1926 model T roadster. Cannot get NH Carb to quit leaking gas from the throat.
New viton tip needle valve and seat and new float, all gaskets replaced. Adjusted float level to 15/64ths, works on the bench but as soon as it is installed it leaks a stream. Leaking stops when air screw is screwed all way in.
Anything I’m missing here? Replace...

JuanitoOgrady..... I agree with Ed. Fuller's recommendation to seal inlet valve mounting into carburetor. If you can find an original NH float valve and seat, both tapers can be dressed , put into a drill and then you can apply finger pressure on a fine abrasive medium to take out burrs where slight depression circles in the needle valve itself....

I’m in the process of getting my re-wooded 25 (August 1924) Touring ready for paint and was able to get the firewall done today. I’ve never noticed these holes below the choke bell crank or the one with a shoulder directly below the coil box mounting holes. I don’t remember my January 1924 Roadster having them. What would they have been used for?...
Last post
In late 24 firewall was modified with that lower oval hole, then in 25 the choke bell crank was deleted and the new “26” style combo choke and carb adj u-joint swivel on the NH carb used that oval hole. These 25s fitted with that carb setup just prior to the Improved Car for 26 model year.

Saturday we had a tour to the Penngrove Power Museum. It’s a great collection of mostly motors from hit and miss to a 20+ foot long diesel. 8 guys (ladies seemed less interested) toured in 7 cars and about 10 more met us there.

Last post
Perhaps another trade secret.
You can slowly increase the cranking speed of a HCCT that has two meters and watch the AC Volt Meter reading increase when you increase the speed until the sparks happen around the spark ring.
That lets the spark happen at a slightly different voltage level for each coil.
That spark also happens with the piston at...

Great advice by Dan and Rich! A simple timer change over can easily cause your kickback problem if you either accidently cross a wire over or the timer you have installed is different to what you had. In this case it sounds like you have installed the same timer so the crossed wire sounds more viable? Double check connections at both timer and...

Maros, if you sincerely want a 1910 Ford take heart. You can have one. But, if you haven't noticed, the world is full of crooks. They will sell you a 1953 Willys and tell you it's a 1910 Ford. You have homework to do. You must study early Fords enough to have a good grasp of their identifying features. The more you know about a real 1910 Ford, the...

It was a long time ago, but if I recall correctly? These can be easily adapted to fit and work on a model T car. The biggest problem is that the magneto sits out somewhat beyond the outside of the frame rail. Not much of a problem for some speedsters, however a stock bodied car with stock hood has a real problem with the aesthetics.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but these rims were a one year (1919) deal. Then Ford went to the rims with integral lugs. These rims are also used on Buffalo Disc wheels, but with a heavy retainer ring that went around the entire rim and the retainer ring was held in place with 4 lug bolts. Just FYI...........

You can take any kingpin wear out of the equation by driving a wooden wedge between the spindle body and the yoke in the axle. Then you can get a real feel for any play in the bearings. Clogged 21 inch valve stem

Tim Hansen » Tue Jul 01, 2025 7:46 pm
First post
I have a tire issue I never ran into before. I have a good 21 inch tire that was low in air. I pumped it up to 35 Lbs and all was fine. I then checked the pressure with a tire gauge and the gauge read 0 PSI. I checked and no air will come out or go in. Same when I removed the valve from the tube. Tire is aired up but no air will go in or come out....
Last post
The tube shifting in the tyre happens when the tyre is underinflated. The valve stem hole in the rim and the same in the felloe will tend to hold the valve stem vertical, so when the tube wants to shift it will tend to tear away from the stem. The same can happen with metal stem tubes. The correct tyre pressure is the answer.
On a 21 flat based...

Mine are pressurised via the rocker cover hold down stud. Stands are in steel and clamp onto the shaft so shafts can be used for oil ways.

So I was having great difficulty getting the bottom two bolts for the coupling ring to thread into the rear of the block. It was suggested that maybe the ball cap was clocked wrong and the hole was not at the top since the 4 holes are not all the same and that I might be able to turn it and make sure the hole is at the top. One can't see the hole...

Tis my next move.
The ball cap does go in. It has a Scat crank.
Did not think that the end hanging by the spring would be a possible contributor till I looked at the whole picture which was why I mentioned it.
I just thought maybe the holes of the coupling ring were just a bit off. Like when a brake line is pulling just wee off side enough to...

Have any of you had luck mounting a 21 tire onto a split rim? I have tried the following with no success: 3 legged tire tool, TWO 3 legged tire tools, wood blocks and hydraulic jack, bumper jacks. In the past I have managed to ruin several split rims by stretching them out of shape in an attempt to make the ends meet or even come close enough to...

I mounted all five tires on the rim myself using the three legged tool. The old tires were so hard that I had to saw in some cases. The replacements were new pliable tires. When compressing the rim, if I saw the rim start to distort, I backed all the way off and placed the tool on the rim in a different orientation and tried again. It was a...

Replaced the blown 20amp fuse with a 30amp but could not get it started again.
Towed it back with a chain to the garage and got it started.

The wires connected to the timer take quite a bit of abuse from vibration and rubbing on other parts, often including the fan belt or crank pulley. Worn spots in the insulation can develop quickly and cause misfire, often at higher road speeds. It's worthwhile to check the timer wires very carefully, especially in the area near the timer and...
