The History of Motor Racing

Post by Kaiser » Tue Mar 10, 2020 6:26 pm

An old series of films by the Shell Oil company ; 'The history of Motor Racing' in four installments
The first part covers (with great english commentary) the early years up to 1914

The second part covers 1919 - 1929 starting of with great footage of the Indianapolis 'Brickyard'

The third covers 1930 - 1934

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gpW7wSo8Q9c

And the fourth and last part covers 1935 - 1939, the last year before the second World War began

This should keep you off the streets for a while, Enjoy !

I don't know if it's true or not, but I've read that Henry Ford was once asked, "When did auto racing begin?' He replied, "When the second car was built."

Proof that motor racing dates back to Roman times.
The old forums are a gold mine of information.
