Not done anything all of July

Post by david_dewey » Sun Jul 12, 2020 12:25 am

Hi folks you haven’t seen or heard me on the form in a while this is David Dewey over in Oroville CA. and I have been in the hospital since the first of the month recoverOmg from a whole bunch of stuff that started out with kidney stones. Three operations later and I really hope to be home Monday or Tuesday back to my dial-up connection. I finally got the hospital’s Wi-Fi to work enough to post this so I’m down but not out completely but we’ll see what life’s like afterwards

I have been sorta worrying a bit. Wondered if the kidney stones had kicked you in the gut?
Take it easy for a bit, then get well QUICK!

Thank you all. Guess I’m too much like the T to be put down easily. But. The did try—especially now that my Linda is talking to the other staff who are advising her that my care was Not the best.
I hope that I can climb out of this foxhole, finish The house and then get Barney back on the road. But that is yet to be seen!!
Trust me, if you are able to be up and about and do things, even if it hurts a bit: the you are blessed. Life changes in a flash sometimes and kidney stones don’t always pass!!

When life is good we don't really appreciate how lucky we are. So many of us have been lucky for so long. I've been down there a couple of times and couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope you are back on top soon and can forget how dark it looked.
Keep us posted when you can.
As always.

I just noticed the AutoCorrect changed rich to “Rex” so hopefully you still took the praise as it was meant to be.

No David, I was just pleased that Rex was helping out. :D
Thanks. It was a fun exercise to paint the 5 illustrations and a bit different. You have worked with a lot of folks like the staff at the museum and know how wonderful they can be.
Get comfortable and we'll talk some more later.

I know what it's like to have a medical issue knock you on your a##. Having a goal is a good way to keep your spirits up. You do what you can but the important thing is to keep "doing."

All the best for a speedy recovery.

Thank you Tim.
I have multiple goals, but concentrating on the short-term ones right now: get back on my feet! I am much weaker than I realized. My priorities have drastically changed though, time to realize what projects I am likely to finish, what ones I really want to do, and how to let the other projects go to folks that will do them. I cannot (or should not) leave this mess of "stuff" for my wife to wade through--and trust me, the stuff is piled deep and high enough that "wade through" is an appropriate term! :D
Now my wife has other goals for me, like; Drink a full glass of water every hour, etc. She's a great care-taker.

Thank you all. I am still amazed at how little activity ends up being "too much" and I have to stop to recover, so while other tell me I'm getting better (they say my voice is much stronger now) I don't feel like I'm going very fast yet. Next week they take the two stints out of my kidneys; they assure me it is an office visit event that won't take a half-hour including prep (and numbing the area I hope--you can imagine the area and how they will get "inside there") with no complications. And that after the stints are out, my final recovery should be very soon. Hmmm.
The first operation that started this whole thing was supposed to be quick and simple too. I am worried! I wish I trusted this doctor more, but I have no real choice in the matter. I'll let you know how it goes, 7 days away.

David Dewey

Well tomorrow morning is the big day for the Stint removals. They assure me it is an "in the office" short procedure done under local numbing only (since they are going up my "thingy" I sure hope its numbed) and will be done in a half hour or so. Of course the original operation was supposed to be simple too, so aaaaugh! But I am assured that afterwards my recovery should move along quite well. I really hope so, as right now I can wake up feeling like "gangbusters" and then do some simple activity like sand the wall (been redoing the house) and it sets me back. The doctor say that's because the movement is irritating one of the stints, and with it out, that should go away.
So guys & gals, hopefully you will hear from me by tomorrow night--if not, then I'm probably back in the hospital (or my dial-up connection failed) !!!! That would be a real nightmare.
Some of this experience reads like a horror novel. Sorry to bore y'all with this, but, you do know that many of you feel like family here. Oh for the day i can get in Barney and drive down the road. . . . (or at least the days when I can work on Barney to get him derivable again!)
T'ake care,
David Dewey

No boredom here, simple real concern for a valued friend. I miss that about our old forum. So many people here that we care about. We want to hear about their health, and even family troubles. We want to send our thoughts, and wishes (prayers if one prefers the term), and delight in hearing when they are doing better. Sometimes, we can even maybe do something to help them.
Take the time needed, then shake this thing off and get better!

Well, as usual, I never seem to be the "simple procedure" guy. Doc couldn't find one of the stints at first--even asked me if anyone had removed it! So, I was there about an hour, he did find it, but then I had to "evacuate" the bladder, then he went back in--so three times up the "ahem" member, and while they do numb it some, you know they are down there doing "stuff" and it's not that comfortable!
However, so far I am feeling MUCH better, just waiting to see if I still "relieve myself" adequately, so I know the kidneys and bladder are still communicating. Time will tell. If they are, then I feel like I may finally be on the way back to being myself again.
Thanks for all your concern and support!!
T'ake care,
David Dewey
