28 roadster pickup.

Post by Dallas Landers » Tue Sep 01, 2020 4:43 pm

Sat in a concrete building with no windows and a very leaky roof for 15 years. Like a rain forest that never dried out. Engine condition unknown, body rough, any wood or interior and top are long gone. Its a desirable body and bed and cab are not bad. Wheels are really rusted and froze up. Whats a fair offer on this truck? A friend has it. He purchased it from my uncle Bill Landers about 30 years ago.

A decent fun driver that you can go play with is around $10K, nice ones are in the upper teens, so this one is what -- $500 bucks? The heavy iron of a Model A doesn't bring much (even when it is usable) so I'd look at it from the standpoint of what you would get if you had the roadster pickup body and bed sitting in a pile and go from there. Are those splash aprons rusted through?

Yes Walter they are. They were not that way when put in the building. The pot metal parts on the generator and engine are like powder and crumbly. Its sad.

Wow. Was there fertilizer stored in there with it or something? Best bet would be to find a used running chassis somewhere and slap that body on it (if the subframe isn't gone) but even with all the other stuff you'll still need it will add up. You probably know this but the top on those doesn't fold. Why they made them that way I cannot tell you but I've heard of some acquiring them and only finding that out after the fact! That's why you only ever see them with the top up or off.

Poor thing even left the rust trail on the floor underneath.
5 max, I'd say.
Zamac/pot metal: Moisture is very hard on those items.
Since I lost my mind mind, I feel more liberated
