Where to get an 8 volt battery load tester
I have a 48 volt electric 2012 Precedent Club Car golf cart with six brand new Trojan 8 volt batteries. I need an 8 volt battery load tester with which to periodically check the condition of the batteries. Does anyone know where I can find one of these? I have been looking online for several days and cannot find one anywhere. All the ones for sale are for 6 and 12 volt batteries, but not for 8 volt. Thank you. Jim Patrick

Re: Where to get an 8 volt battery load tester
Jim. The HF 6/12 volt tester $19.95 should work just fine for what Your are doing. it is not calibrated for 8 volts. So You test it on a known good battery and establish Your own base line for a good battery. The load resistor in the tester is most likely the same for 6/12 volts just the meter scales are different. another way to test the batteries under load is to put rear drive wheels of the golf cart on jack stands and run the golf cart motor which will put a realistic load on the battery. Check each battery with a voltmeter with the motor running. the voltage for each battery should be close to each other a weak battery will show a lower voltage and a bad battery will show a big drop in voltage. If Your batteries have caps You can test the specific gravity with a hydrometer like leo mentioned many are sealed glass matt construction. Good Luck.

Re: Where to get an 8 volt battery load tester
.I honestly have never saw a 8 volt load tester.
A safe way to load test may be a sealed beam headlight and a volt meter.
from experiance,a golf cart has enough torque to jolt when the peddle is hit and jump right off a block! and run over testers FOOT!
Keep those terminals CLEAN and the water correct, you should get about 5 years good service from those batterys.

If you can't help em, don't hinder em'

Re: Where to get an 8 volt battery load tester
A 6/12 volt load tester will work on 8 volts. The load resistor in the tester will work on any voltage it will draw max current on 12 volts and less on 8 and 6 volts. the only difference is the scale markings on the meter. You can use existing markings and figure where a good 8 volt battery would be on the scale or use a separate voltmeter to check each 8 volt battery under load. a lot of u tube videos on how to test a golf cart battery. Good Luck

LOOKS GOOD. e-bay has everything! And now if You decide to put a 8 volt battery in Your model T for a little extra starting power. You have a tester to check it.
