Car Light Or?

Post by GEmering » Fri Dec 18, 2020 11:49 pm

I was given this light by a friend who thought it might be auto related. There is no makers mark on the lamp.
Any information is appreciated.

Probably not car, but a carriage lamp.

I am not sure, but I believe the intention was to hold a candle in that long tube. Not much light, but enough for a slow carriage or sidewalk on a dark night.
It looks like it may be a real thing, however, thousands of cheap copies have been made and sold as decorations. I have seen some at places like Pier One Imports years ago.

I’ll give you twice what you paid for it - 3x if the glass is intact.

The cap holds the candle in place and as it burns a spring in the tube pushes it up.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!
