Henry Ford's Rubber Plantation

Post by dasiver » Mon Feb 15, 2021 11:11 pm

Don't think I have ever seen this topic discussed on the Forum. Science channel has a series called "Mysteries of the Abandoned" and they had a segment on the plantation and "city" Henry built in the Amazon rain forest in 1928. He was going to grow his own rubber to cut out the middle man in the product. City housed about 2000 people, didn't work out so now it sits abandoned. He named his "rubber" town Fordlandia.

In the MTFCI magazine a young man wrote a nice essay about it.
