For the bikers

Not the best angle, but this 1913 photo kinda shows the fun and excitement over a brand-new Excelsior !

Nice Photo. The dog looks familiar.

Yep.
As for the bike, here are some Excelsior photos.
The first was at the Jerome, ID swap meet years ago.

And this was at the Pasadena Motor Excursion in the '80s. The 2cyl Buick might be Doug Eastwood's.

The bike photos are great and I enjoy them BUT ... Making a dog that is 108 years old still herd sheep is a crying shame! You should give that dog some time off!

My Gosh Dave, That's got to be a thrill.
For contrast, here is a 1910 Harley engine I owned for 40 some years:
RLEHDx1.jpg
It's a single cylinder with atmospheric intake valve. There is no linkage to it. It is simply sucked open on the intake stroke.
RLEHDx3.jpg
The cam turns on that post and a roller rides on it lifting the exhaust valve. A plunger lifts the exhaust valve to relieve compression when starting.
Here it is packed for shipping. It found a good home.

When did I do that?
