Look up CP4 Pump failure.
Seems these pumps will fail and trash out the fuel system. Everything has to be replaced. Lines, injectors filter housing and even tank.
Ford dealer I had mine at yesterday had two in there. Jobs were 14000 each.
There is a kit that keeps the pump trash from going back to system. Will not stop pump failure just contains it.
Called CP4 disaster prevention kit. Not made by Ford.
Mine is getting one next week

Just FYI for you guys

By the way Dodge and some Duamax use this same pump.

we have three 6.7’s on the farm. One of them went thru this issue. Use the product above offered by ford at your fuel fill ups. The problem with the pump is that it has an aluminum bore and a steel piston. The conditioner adds better lubrication to the fuel. It’s your only hope….

From what I have learned all that helps, but will not prevent the failure. If you any water in your fuel warranty is void.
Main reason for this problem CP4 is European pump and their fuel is different from ours.
There is a class action law suit going through court now about this.
I am getting a S&S kit on mine.

Over here in Europe we had (have) a similar problem with Mercedes truck fuel systems, turns out in the small print of the warranty paperwork, Mercedes Truck division declared warranty void if Diesel with any 'bio' content was used, problem was the lubricity of the 5% bio added diesel fuel was not suficient. Lots of truckers discovered that running on the cheaper 'bio diesel' was actually a lot more expensive than anticipated....
When in trouble, do not fear, blame the second engineer ! 8-)

The Disaster kit will save you thousands if your pump goes that’s for sure. It makes it so you don’t have to replace your fuel rails and injectors. Water is a big issue in any diesel fuel so keeping your fuel filters changed is a must. Also a fun job if done wrong! Ours had over 300k on it when it went. I did all the work and it cost around $6k. Adding a sufficient fuel lubricant is key from the start thou. It’s a cheap insurance policy. And YES! Marvel Mystery oil! Seriously! 🤣

I am dealing with an issue now on my
1996 Ford 7.3 PSD that caused a catastrophic
cooling system failure.

I am nearing the end of a 45 plus hour
Greyhound bus ride from Florida to
Arizona to pick up my back up truck.

No way would I ever buy a new vehicle
of any type - let alone a diesel tow vehicle.

If you want real problems, wait for all personal diesel trucks have the DEF systems. Our plant spent 3 million dollars for 2 CAT loaders for our quarry and they are keep having problems with the DEF systems. Our old loaders we have a better reliability. We can't even fix them ourselves, the computer software for diagnostic is propriety. :evil: :evil: :evil:

I have listened to these guys (now on podcast but use to be on XM-Sirus Road Dog trucking channel) for 3 yrs now.
It is to improve combustion which reduces soot and carbon and should reduce emissions stress.

The guy you really want to talk to is the owner, Bruce Mallinson. He has been in the diesel power performance world for a longtime and likes working on special applications like yours including off road equipment. I think his email is Bruce@pittsburghpower.com

The only challenges I have heard from drivers calling in could be initial clean out issues as the carbon and soot work their way out and through the system like an extra regen and if the system is really dirty/old/used/DPF coming up on needing cleaning it takes some time to clear out. Also if you are doing used oil analysis, Iron will he higher but with out the other ware metals like lead, copper. Lots say a mile or so mpg improvement but that seems to come from the improvement in combustion and getting the build up out of the system. LOTS have stated reduced DEF consumption and long times between regens.

Also, They have had 3 shops they know of that the EPA has come after for Deleting emissions. If they know the Shops doing the delete and the shop has customer list and information there could be some issues going foward and lots of shops will not allow a deleted vehicle on their property.
