VW "E-Jeep"?

Post by TXGOAT2 » Fri Nov 18, 2022 11:23 am

VW expects to offer a low to mid price electric SUV type vehicle called "Scout" in the near future. It looks similar to the current Ford Bronco, but more contemporary. VW material shows pictures and a chrome script "Scout" logo that looks remarkabley similar to the one used by IHC on their Scout utility vehicles back in the 1960s. Whether there is any connection or not, I don't know.//// Update: There is an IHC connection, if only the name, which VW now owns. If they can offer a low price, capable vehicle that has some of the character of the 1960s IHC Scout, they may do very well with it. VW hasn't been very successful with truck offerings in the US, but I see no reason why they can't be. Personally, I'd prefer a hybrid powertrain to all-electric, but VW may need to go all-electric to satisfy our ruling class. If they can preserve an authentic retro flavor at an affordable price combined with real, in-the-dirt capability, it could sell very well. People love to customize this type of vehicle to suit their own needs and wants, so a basic, bare bones, base 4X4 version might be a real volume seller. The vehicle is supposed to be USA built.
