Where does a Model T fall in the scale ?
I have to assume the Jeep is slightly more aerodynamic than a T... :?

That's udderly ridiculous. Jeeps were designed to do specific work and aerodynamics were not a consideration. To keep the "Jeep look" only minor changes can be made. And they can be camooflaged! When the steaks are high you can count on the Jeep, you won't have to hoof it.

'66 was a good year.

In the grand scheme of things, I've been given to understand that (arguably) aerodynamics doesn't weigh very heavily where road vehicles are concerned even at today's speeds. Influenced by rapid advances in airplane designs (where it does make a difference) designers of everything from railroad locomotives to refrigerators became infatuated with "streamline" design in the late 1920's and 30's, and our perceptions of enhanced speed owing to swooping forms and compound curves are still influenced by them. As far as the Model T is concerned, about the only big differences I've noted performance-wise is that piloting Lizzie in a stiff cross-wind is much like managing a small boat under sail !! There can be a lot of wind-load that's much reduced if you put the top down !

Rich...
I think Henry engineered the design with wind drag as a supplementary braking system as it was ultra low cost and provided the ability to save on the service brakes

And on the flip side, a good tail wind (and a steep downhill grade) will give you another 5mph top speed !! :?

Yes, much the same as using thermosyphon to give extra torque through the waterpump for those who install them.
When did I do that?

The problem is that cows don't realize that they are aerodynamic and never take advantage of it.They should really put a pig in the wind tunnel.
Life is good on the lunatic fringe. Tom

They tried, but the noise was too much for the pig and when he lost his voice, he became disgruntled.

I'm sure glad the new Cub Cadet lawn tractor that I bought last year has a nicely designed streamlined hood, it sure does get the yard mowed with a lot less fuel than our old "square" hooded Craftsman. Dave

Dave,

Just as a safety warning, be sure to never roll down the windows at speeds over 200mph.
Bad things will happen ! :o
More people are doing it today than ever before !

Dave, i went from tractor type mower to a zero turn this spring. Its like a rear engine dragster compared to my tractor. Not sure why they call it "zero turn" thats all my wife can do on it. She said she is not mowing with that €₩◇$@*%& thing! :D

They wind tunneled that cow wrong. Cows always stand with their butts to the wind. That’s how you tell which way the wind is blowing when you have to pick a field for a dead stick landing.
