I immediately thought of the boys with BB guns thread when I saw trhis set of photos.
Boys will be boys.
It looks like the good old days to me.
Perhaps there is a painting to be made here too?

Herb, that brings back memories. The town dump was about 3/4 of a mile from our house when I was a boy. My brother and I built the same type of racers from materials scrounged from that dump. The problem we had was there were no hills for miles. One of us had to be the power behind the rig. That takes some of the fun out of it. Thanks again, I hadnt thought of that in years.

Yeah, those boys probably went on to build cars in high school and continued as adults. Some people never grow up...

The guy in the white shirt appears to have a neck tie on. Sunday afternoon and he was in too much of a hurry to change out of his Sunday-go-to-Meeting cloths? Mama ain't gonna be happy.
Technology, the solution to all of our problems... and the cause of most of them.

Those were the days. We had a paved alley across the street with quite a slope. Several baby buggy wheels were well used on homebuilts like that.
Thanks for taking me back to those days Herb. I wish we had taken pictures.

When did I do that?

In the '50's we built a number of "cars" like that. We'd use whatever we could find for frame, axles, wheels, body etc. Once I came up with a few 2X4's, which we used for the frame. It was pretty sturdy. Unfortunately, the make-shift axles just weren't up to the task.

Sorry to bump this but those are great photos Herb!!
As my grandsons age a few years like those boys in the photo, they'll stop asking me to do it all FOR them and start asking
"Can we have this?" To do on their own! Yesss!
Been OT busy and missed this. Or is it OT/OT busy?
Thanks Herb!
On a deeper level, thank you.
Since I lost my mind mind, I feel more liberated
