A friend sent me one of the pictures below, asked if it was a Model T. This led me on a search, so, file this under, " things I didn't know "

The Aerocar is an American automobile that was built from 1906 until 1908 in Detroit, Michigan. Backed by Henry Ford's former partner, coal merchant Alexander Malcomson, the short-lived company offered an air-cooled four-cylinder luxury car which sold for $2,800.

That is great to see.
I find it interesting how the characters of that time moved from company to company. It never ends.
Thanks
Rich

Thank you for posting this wonderful photo !

How appropriate, the Wright Flyer pulled by an Aero - car !
I would have mistaken it for a Packard. Apparently the radiator and hood design changed between the 1906 ad and the 1908 photo.

I looked into this car.
Amazingly, the factory is still standing, and has "Aerocar" painted on the rear of the building. I believe it was taken over by Dodge as a parts plant. I think it is vacant now. It appeared to be in very good condition when I Google-mapped it and did a "street view" tour around the factory. I will look at my notes and see if I can find the address to post. Does anyone know of a surviving Aerocar of any year or model? As a person who owns a Franklin, I have an interest in air-cooled cars, and would love to find out where I can go and see an actual one.

I believe the car in the original post is water cooled and the car in the last picture posted is air cooled. Here is a picture of an unrestored Aerocar that a friend owned recently

for a while. It is similar to the one in the original post.
