At Saturday morning coffee, I was approached about a 1910 Overland that is in the Harrisburg Oregon Museum that they need help with the carb. I know nothing about Overland but told him that I would check and see what I could find out. The car has been restored and is beautiful, they just need a good carb from what I understand. Any help that we could get would be greatly appreciated.

The Overland Model 38 parts list shows that the car uses a Schebler model D carburetor.

Model D Schedulers were ubiquitous, used on numerous automobiles, stationary engines, and marine engines. The folks at the museum will find it not difficult to locate a Scheduler Model D, BUT, they must know whether it is updraft, sidedraft, etc, the diameter of the throat. spacing of the attachment bolt holes, etc. They will likely want the carburettor rebuilt, I recommend The Old Carb Doctor in Nebo, North Carolina (he has done several for me). Then, if they intend to operate the engine or drive the car, they will need to locate the instructions for adjusting the carburetor, more an art than science.

The Schebler model D carburetor is a wonderful carburetor when the float is adjusted properly. I hear complaints from some who say they are worthless. I suspect those are not adjusted properly and offer to buy them with no results yet.
I cussed the one on my '07 Buick until I played with the float adjustment. It can be adjusted easily with the top removed. The car runs nicely now.

Thanks for all of the info, I know very little about this vehicle, just what I saw in a few pictures,(a beautiful car) but the pictures of the engine is not very clear or close and it looks like the carb is mounted on a threaded piece like a pipe fitting. I will try and get more info from the museum (Museum is 150 miles away). I appreciate the help. Dennis
