If anyone else followed the news there was a big solar flare a few days ago, and the energy is coming through the atmosphere and making northern lights all across the US. They are supposed to be visible all the way down to Texas!
I got to see some here in Illinois, they're green here, pretty neat!
Ignore the white thing, thats the house. Anyone else get pictures? Edit, yes the lights are in there somewhere, just hard to see. Its the best picture i got. Looks like some others got better luck.

I was sent this one from Idaho Falls.

Where I live it is May. This time of year it is almost always cloudy. Didn't see anything but a few house lights kind of dimmed by fog. One of my sons lives in Idaho so his family might have seen it.

They were Southern Lights as well, visible in NZ from many locations. Wouldn't you know it - we had overcast here though....

I stayed up last night, as I heard I missed them here the night before, and nada,,,

Thats the problem with them "northern lights', if you can chase them all night you MIGHT get lucky. Me? I gave up staying awake over the dog shift 20+ years ago,,, I DID give it a go this time (tho I missed yesterday, darnit!) , but I realie while Rome is at the same latitude as Chicago, it still threw the lights north of us so we missed out, I DID try, and thought there was more "pink" in the morning sky than usual, but I will just credit it to our amazing (finally) Dpring coming in....

I'm down here in the FL keys, we went out on a boat and caught a faint glimmer of red. Too much movement for a camera unfortunately.

I caught a bunch. Here's a couple.
The eyes saw them as washed out so I used the new, hated phone with an excellent camera and the colors popped!
915. To the north, about 10:30.
434-2. To the east and upside down. For those afraid of their own shadow. OOOOH, we're coming for you!
