Cars and Coffee Regency

Post by Tom Hicks » Sat Jun 15, 2019 12:56 pm

This thread is about the Cars and Coffee car show at Regency Square in Richmond. If you don't like cart shows please do not post on this thread, post here:
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4549

There were several hundred cars at C&C this morning, but unfortunately no Model T's. And lots and lots of people who enjoy car shows! NOT-A-TEE and I had a good time! In two weeks I hope to take Ellie Mae...

Thank you for posting pics from the show you attended Tom,

I love the shows & cruises, I guess I haven't become old & crotchety enough to be offended if someone likes a different type of car than I do!

I have been in this hobby/ business for 36 years & loved cars for 10 years before that. Unfortunately this year it has been raining continuously, so a lot of our Northern Ohio shows/ cruises were cancelled or lightly attended. We were supposed to have one here in our little town yesterday, but the weather was lousy. I go to see other peoples work, get custom ideas, see some rare stuff & see lots of friends who are also in this hobby. Last weekend we had some dry slots, so I went to a cruise Friday night, a Buick, Olds, Pontiac Show Sunday morning with one of my Pontiacs & an evening cruise later that day!

God Bless
Bill

I was pleased to see a 64 Grand Prix (389, tri-power, 4-speed) and a 70 Catalina wagon
at the recent Fairfield car show. A long line of boring ho-hums dominated the scene, but
there were a few interesting cars. The only T was a period-built C-cab pickup, but on a
car chassis. Looked to be a 1920.

I guess we all fight the old and crotchety thing as we age.

What I was hoping to avoid on this thread is those who criticize others in order to build themselves up, sort of a middle school mentality. Sad that some feel they are inferior and have to put down others whether it be for what they like in cars or how they lead their lives. Imagine going to a car show and criticizing other's vehicles, or looking at pictures on a thread like this and posting about how boring most of the cars are. Just rude people who are insecure.

OK Mr. Burger, you win. I tried to have a positive thread on car shows, even gave you the opportunity to post negative on another thread about car shows, but you continue to troll. If I keek posting about car shows you will keep trolling and it makes the Forum, even OT, look bad. So I won't post any more car show pictures.

Listen, Mr. Hicks ... this is not a win or lose situation. Why do you go there ? We all have our
preferences, and to be "positive" in your "positive thread on car shows, I submitted that I had
found some interesting cars at a recent car show. I am generally not a car show guy, but I tried
to meet you more than half way.

Now, the careful reader will note that nowhere in my post did I make personal comments
about you, or anyone else. THIS is where we differ on how to behave in a public forum, and
as far as I am concerned, remove the personal attacks, and we can carry on a civil conversation
about any topic at all. Not sure why you feel the need to take open conversations to a personal
level, but that truly is the definition of being a troll.

Tell you what, ... next time I am at a car show, I'll take photos and share them here. As a
matter of immediate action, here are a couple from a past show:

Can anyone guess what they are looking at ?

I like that Burger! I fell in love with a two tone Black & Red one at this past Hot August Nights in Reno. I would have liked to have seen a picture of the 64 GP you were talking about! Mine is coming along nicely!

I'd bet on DeSoto, given Burger's interest in them. Otherwise, a mid-1950's "space-age" land yacht, about the size of a brontosaurus, ain't it grand ? From the days when new cars were still a wonderment.

A 1961 Desoto. Last year for Desoto. Production stoped in late 1960 I believe. I think only about 3000 1961 model year DeSotos were produced. A 1961 convertible would be a rare car.

Ding ! Ding ! Ding ! .... We have a winner !

Wayne gets 3 bonus points and an extra slice of raisin pie.

No DeSoto convertibles were built after the 1959 model year. While technically a real car,
it is a 1961 Chrysler Newport platform (shared with DeSoto), with a DeSoto nose clip, interior,
and side trim hung on it. Knowing the builder, I would bet the engine is a correct B-block 361
DeSoto unit.

Yes, DeSoto production ceased 30 November 1960, with just a skosche over 3000 cars built
in a single, un-named model series. They were simply "DeSotos". If memory serves, 911 2-door
hardtops were built. The only other option was 4-door hardtops.
