I am restoring a presto-lite tank and have several questions. I have one with the Presto-Lite" has raised letters. Should this one also have the stencil? Also, how should the outlet be positioned. It is on one side of the tank, should it go on the bottom, top, left or right? I would appreciate the help! Thank you in advance!

Re: Presto-lite tank question
The raised letters were a later addition and no stencil was used. The valve should be as high as possible so only gas comes out of the cylinder. Some frown on them being mounted horizontally rather that vertically as used for welding.
This discussion shows some installed. Also a decal on the later one but the only one I have seen that way.

When did I do that?

Re: Presto-lite tank question
Part of the acetylene producing process inside the tank uses acetone. Like Rich says, you want that valve up as far as possible to let the gas out but keep the acetone from running into the hose.
