What a beast ! But what is it ? It is a six and there is another one behind it, the engine of the second car is just visible behind the first one..
When in trouble, do not fear, blame the second engineer ! 8-)

As best I can tell, the writing says,

Olds Test Car 1910

Jonsey
Ross Taber
Joe the Indian

Oldsmobile introduced a Packard-size car in 1910 called the Oldsmobile Limited.

My guess is that is a test chassis.

Tests proved the value of fenders !
Both cars appear to be Oldsmobiles.

It's a great photo Herb. I can't find anything about that car. Here are the two Oldsmobile entrants to the 1910 Vanderbilt cup Race. I see that the rear spring mount, the hand levers and the steering arm all closely match the car in question. The few engine pictures I looked at don't have the same manifold arrangements. Perhaps it was an experimental design.
For 1911, the six-cylinder Limited engine was increased in capacity to a gargantuan 706-cu.in., featuring a 5-inch bore and a 6-inch stroke. Maybe that is what this monster was in 1910 after the Vanderbilt.

Here is an '11 engine.

When did I do that?
