Early Schebler Carburetors

Post by ModelT46 » Mon Nov 25, 2019 11:57 am

I bought two early brass Schebler carbs from the Harris sale here in Minnesota. I am interested it the applications of them. One is Model T size and one is much larger.

This should be a great topic. I have a large one on my 1907 Buick two cylinder. I works great now that the float is adjusted correctly. I hope to hear from many others. This is a great description of the Model D and should help: https://www.gasenginemagazine.com/gas-e ... carburetor
Thanks

I have seen them on several old tractors. I believe they are configured such that the air valve and throttle are interchangeable depending on whether you need a side draft or up draft. The interface is the same size and bolt pattern. I delighted in running my engine with the carburetor top off and adjusting the float level until a backfire lit the whole bowl aflame. Surprise! Don't try it. Most have both a choke and a tickler. The later simply pushes the float down to let gas in the throat. Either one works fine. I would like to try one on a T along with my other pipe dreams.

I always learn something from these discussions. "and its knock off cousins such as Michigan Wheel, Generator Valve Co. Monarch etc" was news to me but explains the Monarch I found. These pictures show the similarity and different size and configurations a little better.

The larger carb is very reminiscent of a Hart-Parr 18-36 or so carb.
Once set, they're very reliable carbs.
Since I lost my mind mind, I feel more liberated
