Crank call-Sociall Security or Credit card calls

Post by Bill D » Fri Jan 17, 2020 3:55 pm

Well some time ago I was reading some of the post's here and came across one about Credit card calls.
So I tried the posted words found here- "Hello Sheriff's Department or FBI and it has not stopped the calls but 9 out of 10 hang up.
So I have to commend the person who came up with the idea as GGGRRREEEAAAT!
I would reccommend it to everyone and see what the reaction is, it can be funny, however
I have had few times where some smart as* did not believe me and I told him he had not better not push his luck
as the deputies are there waiting for him and he would have a lot of words to explain for his attitude.
Try it you will like the results!

Bill, that can also work in unintended ways. When I was a kid, I remember that my dad would sometimes answer the phone with, "Kelly's Pool Room, Kelly speakin'." Then one day the call was from a vice-president of the company he worked for, calling from New York. The caller hung up and I think Dad may have stopped doing that from then on. :D

Dick: When I answer oit as I said ; the voice on the calling person is alway"Card services and
would like to reduce your charges on your credit card?
On my phone it has a disply and I can see who the call is coming from.
For me being retire I do not have to worry about a call like tha!
My wife just hangs up and that is it.
How are things in ST Louis? I was in the Ozarks this past May for my 67 year out of High school back there.
I saw the new Wilder Museum in Mansfield and what a gem. If you have never been there and you are
in the area do take the time and the tour.
Enough said from California.

This past week or so my dad has 1 of his harleys in my shop and a fellow coming over to work on it.Installing clutch and new stator for the charging system. It is basicly right at the telephone on the wall and so my dad has been answering it.I have been expecting a call from Dmv any day. Anyway,at least 5 times per day Nancy working closly with medicare, wants to sell me a back brace. If I could push 9 I could get off the calling list. Trouble is a rotary dial telephone don't do that! And besides, you push 9 to get on the do not call list,it is just for that 1 number. Once they get a big 9, they know they got a hot number and will just call it from other numbers.
If it werent for 911 and knowing our cell service STINKS I would have it unhooked.
If you can't help em, don't hinder em'

If you have a knack for mimicking foreign dialects, answer your phone with
a heavy ethnic accent. Depending on the caller, you can move into whatever
mode you wish to deal with them. You can have a lot of fun as a loud and hard-
to-understand guy who talks sideways with a heavy accent, wasting the time of
the person trying to waste yours. Life is what you make it. Some times you can
turn an annoyance into a bit of fun.
More people are doing it today than ever before !

Bill, you're ahead of me. My high school class had its 60th reunion last September in Webster Groves.
On one of the Show Me Tours some years ago, one of the stops was in Mansfield to see the museum (at the time, probably before the one you're talking about, since you said "new") and the Wilder homes.

Dick the two photos is familiar! The first one the white house is the one call the "Little House" the second one is the "Rock House.
The Rock House was built by Rose Wilder Lane Luara dna Almonzos daughrter for them but it is said that they prefered the Lillte House.

I wish I knew oow to down load a photo of the new Musuem, it looks like a big Church and it a bit to eh west of the old Museum and
tripple in size. Fantastic place to see.

As I said if you are ever there again take time and see the new one.

From our weather department it says your people in the mid-west ar having some very bad weather.

Today the sun was shinning and it was in the lower 50's Bana belt wea ther.

Bill, I found the thread on the old forum of the 2007 Show-Me Tour that included Mansfield. I have posted a link to it on the "main forum" here (since it has plenty of Model T pictures).
