Tools! And more tools.

So, about 25 years ago I bought a Harbor Freight pan & brake for sheet metal work fabricating my Porsche race cars. What an absolute total piece of junk. The cast iron broke at the base and all my attempts to repair it were basically futile. But it served a purpose and I cursed it every single time I had to battle to use it.

Well, today was my lucky day. I just brought home these 2 beauties from a the last radiator repair shop in northern CA that just closed it’s doors. I had the guy put a new core in my ‘21 and it was a work of art. But with all the cheap Chinese plastic radiators that just get thrown away now, his business failed and he had to sell everything.

These were his dads who got them from his dad. Who knows how old they are, but man are they smooth and solid in operation. I’m not even going to say what I paid for them but it was less than I paid for my 1941 South Bend Lathe... loading and unloading was just as bad as the lathe....

This was a serious score! And just like my T, I’m the new steward of these fine machines. Until someone else takes over. And that day will come.

Those are fantastic! ;)
We have one retired guy working on radiators at his home shop here in central MN. No clue where the next closest guy is located.
He's busy.

Good tools are worth their weight in gold.
