I have this interesting aluminum accessory valve cover for a Model T and would like to know more about it. Obviously the front is a screen to catch air to cool the valves? But the hole on the other end is puzzling to me. Its a round hole and has a hole at the top for a set screw. Does anyone have an idea of what is supposed to go there? More info on this accessory is much appreciated. Thanks!

Probably safe bet it is missing its "exhaust" pipe for the now-heated air theoreticaly removed from the engine...

No doubt, some people and their money were separated by this thing.

Flexible pipe to carburetor intake?

I was thinking that also, pulling the air through by means engine vacuum... carb intake. What does the back side look like? It could introduce a lot of dirt into the valve area, but keep it out of the cylinders... Like an oil bath air cleaner.

Most likely some sort of a road draft tube that hung below the engine in the stream of air under the vehicle to create a slight vacuum and keep the crankcase fumes out of the car.
