Ran when parked
I don't own this car, or any Model T for that matter, as my usual online hangout is the antique phonograph forum...but when I saw this I wanted to pass it on to you guys. It's on Tbay right now and I kind of thought some of you would enjoy seeing this car. Looks like a time capsule more than anything else.

Quite a find! A guy could buy a nicely restored one for that price tho. On the other hand, its only like that once!
Thanks for posting it.

Shouldn't a 14 have a tapered leaf spring?

Re: Ran when parked
I have to say going by the pics of the 1914 that it’s a real barn find! The real deal in that category for sure. Not a car that was fixed up a few years ago and then ‘found again’.
I hope whoever buys it just cleans it up, do a mechanical check, fix what’s needed and put some new tires on it and drive it. It seems to be the trend nowadays and hope that’s what happens to it.

Re: Ran when parked
Yeah, it has the hard to find, not-reproduced but correct compound curve splash aprons. I guess in late ‘14 Ford came out with the front fender bills.
I don’t know why I turned out this way. My parents were decent people

Yeah this car has been on eBay at this price for over a year now. You’d think the seller might drop the price little by little until it sells but no, just keeps relisting it at the same price.

Re: Ran when parked
Sorta like the cam shaft with bearings that is way over priced and has been on eBay for about 2 years now. With a little research you can find out what market is.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Re: Ran when parked
Read the description and it's not quite the unmolested find the headline suggests, it had a chequered career in the 20s & 30s, maybe it didn't run when parked:-)
And the engine no is 33,000 or so different from the data plate. The vendor seems to think it came from the factory like that.

Re: Ran when parked
Maybe the high price is because of the under the hood mag horn in addition to the bulb horn?? Some will say it"s worth whatever the seller can get for it,but??? Bud.

Re: Ran when parked
Well, the owner did get his math wrong. It's only 106 years old (1914 to 2020) not 114 like he suggests. That was the only thing I noticed--you guys did well picking the rest of it apart.
I'm glad to see the results of CSI: Detroit on here. Y'all ruthless--and that's good.

Re: Ran when parked
It is definitely overpriced. What would you consider a fair price for a survivor in this condition? I would guess not more than $12,000.00 to $15,000.00, but I still would not pay even that for it in the condition it is in. Heck. Just the vibration of hauling it home on a trailer would probably cause the body panels to fall off the rotten wooden frame. Jim Patrick

Re: Ran when parked
$12k for the car, 3k for the original paint, 5k for the original air, 5k for the original dust. Seems to add up to me. Enclosed trailer only.

Re: Ran when parked
If I bought it I would get it running well enough to load it on the trailer when I picked it up.What a crock about never trying to make it run and trying to leave the dust on it. Clean it up,make it run, make it safe and DRIVE IT>No commerical carrier, another crock.
If you can't help em, don't hinder em'

Re: Ran when parked
Shoot, if dust makes it worth more, I could have a gold mine! I live on gravel road and the dust from the feed for livestock. It adds up quick. Looks luke about 3 months worth to me.

Re: Ran when parked
I am not sure where the problem is? But I have a search parameter for eBad collector cars I have used for many years now. It is supposed to show all cars for sale in eBad motors from 1900 through '29. But it doesn't show this. However, in spite of that, I have seen this car listed before, I think someone in the past also posted a link. You guys all seem to be right on the mark on this one! I didn't read the entire description (got tired of his self proclamations), so not aware of condition of the wood. If the wood isn't reasonably good? It really should be restored completely. In general, condition is marginal to be preserved, although I would admire anyone that worked this one back to a usable survivor state. It really had too many years of hard use and too many miles and repairs to make a good study in exactly how they left the factory. Although, both engine side pans still in place is impressive!
