Has anyone noticed that the 1926 - 1927 Wire Wheels have two different size hubcaps?
I started to put one on today and it just about fell through the hole.
The diameter size difference appears to be about 1/4 inch.

Re: 1926 Wire Wheel Hubcap Size
Sounds like the larger hub cap hole is 28-29 Model A.
26-27 wire wheels are completely smooth at at the transition from the center hub bolt face to the extension where the hub cap mounts.
Model A wire wheels have a different bolt circle diameter and five ridges at the transition from the bolt face to the extension for the hub cap.
Hub cap hole about 2-5/8" id.
I am not positive is the above applies to Model A 28 AR wheels as well but bet that it does.
Hope this helps.

What I appear to have is a Model T rim with the right hole pattern and drum size that has a larger hole to use the early Model A hubcap.

Re: 1926 Wire Wheel Hubcap Size
Well, now I know the answer to my question.
The early Model A hubcap will fit a late 1927 wire wheel, but it doesn't want to very bad.
I had to bend each tab in just a little and then smack it with a big rubber hammer to put it in place.
All the tabs do not need to be bent over to hold the hubcap on, as it will not come off very easily. I bent them all!
I had a 3/4th inch wide piece of hard wood that was just wide enough to slide a large screwdriver along side.
Then twisting the screwdriver would bend the tab about halfway over.
The hole is just big enough for a 1/2 inch square piece of iron angled across the hole to finish the bend with a good hammer smack.

Even Ford's books say to not bend over all the tabs, to save them for later use, if needed.
T'ake care,
