Too wide for narrow bands, too narrow for wide band ;)

Hi Dan,
Yes it is narrower than the drum but is the same width as the wide band I have. Anyone have an idea what it is if not band material? thanks.

I don’t think it is Model T band material. Looks more like antique oil lamp wick material. Jim Patrick

Looks to me like too dense of a weave to be lamp wicks? Looks a bit thin to be T band material? Such woven belting was used for many hundreds of uses! It may have been for use on some non-Ford open transmission? Likely not. Gasoline tank padding? Likely. Similar belting used to be available in bulk in dozens of common sizes, for hundreds of uses. That close in size? I would be surprised if it wasn't used as a "make do" for a T's bands a few times. I wouldn't recommend it for that now however.

Thanks everyone I think I will put it away for now. I'll save it for for an emergency. You never know there may be something to the zombie apalypse. ;)
