TT Truck Part Identification

Post by Mark Chaffin » Thu Feb 20, 2020 10:03 am

Okay you TT Truck guys. Need some help identifying this part. Any help would be appreciated. It appears to be a bushing or collar. The OD is approximately 1 1/4". The ID is approximately 1".

I'm not 100% on this, but I think it's a rear spring perch bushing.

Mark, your piece is from an early TT rear spring perch. Those early perches had a narrow casting with a collar on each end to make up the width. Later, the perch castings were full length and didn't have the collars anymore. This picture is not the best, but it shows where your collar sits.

No. I don't think so. The spring perch bushing measures 1.00" OD and .700 ID. Thanks for the input though. :)

I think you are correct Rich! The TT spring perch bushings I have (later) fit the inside diameter of the part pictured (collar).

So, would this part be considered an "early TT rear spring perch collar"?

Learn something new everyday ! I have a bunch of these, and always just used them to make split flexible collar clamps for magneto drives. They are perfect for that.

My '18 TT is parked at my sons place 45 miles away, so I can't go look at it right now. However, as soon as Rick correctly identified it I remembered them on my truck. I remembered at the time when I had it apart (nearly 20 years ago) wondering why Ford didn't just make the casting a little bigger, which apparently was done later.
