Things that make me less homesick

Been in Japan since 1 February on a work trip. Initially, we were supposed to come home on 7 March, but it looks like that may be delayed 3 weeks.

That's a long time to be away from things T related.

Luckily, Japan does not disappoint us T'ers! Our first weekend here, we went to the Toyota Museum in Nagoya. There is one beautiful, red, early T in the beginning of the museum.

Also there is a display about 100 improvements the Model T/Henry Ford added to the 20th century. I'll probably post those pictures in a separate thread, as I haven't pulled them off my phone yet. In the display, there is a very awesome cutaway T, and a 'simulation' of a 'moving assembly line' section. The side panels and displays were pretty informative. Definitely have to show my fellow docents at Piquette.

Last weekend, we ventured to Yokohama. Inside the historic "Red Brick Warehouse" on the waterfront we found this surprise.

This weekend, we aren't sure what the adventures will bring, but hopefully somehow a T will be involved!

Jason, safe travels. Another Ford to look for while you’re there:

I really enjoy seeing T’s “in the wild”. Can’t remember the last time I saw a post on the forum relating to Japan.

Safe travels and hope the remaining time flies by!

Thank you, everyone, for the well wishes!

Rob, we were thinking of going to Osaka this weekend, but with the government closing the schools we aren't sure how far we want to travel. I mean, we've done this much already, but there is a fine line there... ;)

Either way, if I find more early Fords, I'll post em up!

I think the Glion Museum in Osaka has a few Model Ts.

There is an interesting carpentry museum in Kobe that is worth checking out if you are stuck in Japan for a while. Its a 10 minute work from Shin Kobe station. A visit to there and Himeji Castle is a decent day trip from Osaka.

Thanks for the tips, John! Might try that this weekend if we don't work.

What a gorgeous '09 touring. Wonder how much of it is original? Regardless, it's a nice car. Never thought
of seeing many, if any T's in Japan for some reason! Thanks for posting.
Hope you stay away from this virus mess John.

Don't let fear of the virus get you. If you are going to get it you will get it. Doesn't matter if your traveling or standing on your head.

I have learned that if you have a chance to do something, you do it now. You may never get the chance again.

Memories!

George, the 26-7 model TT's in Australia had front and rear wheels of the same size, eliminating the need for two spares. In Japan, with RHD, it would make sense that a TT was sourced via Australia as a restored car, or initially from Canada when new.
