Rocker Arms Unlimited (formerly known as “Specialties”) has had some mixed reviews over the last several years, due to a change of ownership. And so I wanted to give em a public kudos as a result of my recent experience.
I custom designed and manufactured these rocker arms to retrofit my Akron-Hed from the original ball bearing push rod tubes, over to a (hopefully) more reliable conventional rocker arm design. RAU was able to take on the project with confidence, and performed the task without fault or complications.
The rockers were machined from normalized chromoly steel and I had a concern about material hardness at the valve stem friction surface. RAU flame hardened the tips of the rockers, bead blasted, bushed, honed, and ground the tips, all with beautiful results. They also set me up with the new adjuster screws, and all for a quite reasonable price.
The project took about 4 weeks to turn around, and I am grateful for their help

That is good to hear. Perhaps I should contact them about making some for my Gemsa head again. Do you have the contact information please?

No disrespect intended but my experience has been total crap with them, even giving them a benefit of a doubt 6 months ago!

I had heard negative stories, and good stories too. And there is no doubt I was skeptical going in. But I figured they were only 3 hours away if I had to resort to plan B. I had several phone conversations with them to feel em out, and they were friendly and knowledgeable.
This project was in no way “normal” and I wasn’t sure they would even have tooling to complete the job. This was my first time dealing with them directly, and they did nice work. I am pretty picky when it comes to my own machine work, and I tend to be critical of others machine work too... and so I felt they deserved a kudos this time
My $.02 this time...

Henry,
Maybe you could better define “total crap” for us? I would be interested to hear about your experience just incase there was something I overlooked in the final product...?

Kevin, it wasn't the product it was the attitude of a business and lack interest in it doing the product. Like they just did not care.
Took my business to the UK with excellent results. Back when Neal Jern was alive he bragged on them, he had them make up rockers for me and was quite pleased. Maybe they got their act together, which is good or a wake up call. Just Sayin'

When I was younger, many people in my local club liked to put Frontenac heads on their cars. They found Nash rocker arms to be a good replacement. I wonder if this company has those?

We've always used them for our engines rocker arm rebuilding.
I always speak with "Gary" and never have had problems.
I'm surprised that anyone would of had problems with them unless it was from a long time ago?
