... and that’s why, in the last 120 + years, every horseless carriage should carry a fire extinguisher..
I don’t know why I turned out this way. My parents were decent people

I wonder what was beside it and blew up, doing all the damage? Steam boiler? Doesn't look burned, just blown up!

Re: Period Picture- KABOOM!
With all the police and etc standing around, I wonder. There was a famous (Wall street I think?) explosion around that time. I have seen numerous photos taken that day, most showing much wider views, some with several destroyed automobiles. I wonder if this could be one either of just one car, or perhaps cropped from a larger picture?

Re: Period Picture- KABOOM!
Okay, I got to wondering, had to google it, and this time google actually did help.
The Wall Street bombing was a terrorist attack that took place on September 16 1920 just after noon. According to Wikipedia, 30 people were killed by the blast, and another 8 died later of injuries. 143 survived serious injuries, and hundreds suffered lesser injuries. It was the most serious terrorist attack on US soil up to that time, but was exceeded less than a year later by the Tulsa Race Riots.
More information here.

A google search for images did show this image connected with the Wall Street bombing.
Terrorist attacks are not something new. A few even predate the Revolutionary War.

It was fused, but the fuse was connected to a load of explosives. DI-NO-MITE!
