I have 2 new 30x3 tires that had shrunk. I needed to expand the bead, so this was my solution. Suppose I will have to buy another JD to do 30x31/2 tires.

Isn't the 3 1/2 the width of the tire?
If so the JD tire would work on both 30 and 30 x 3 1/2.

30 x 3 uses a 24" rim - the 30 x 3.5 uses a 23" rim.

John, in theory a 30x3 and a 30x 31/2 are both 30" tall. It has really nothing to do with the width.It is the height of the sidewall.3 plus 3 equals 6 subtracted from 30 equals 24. 3 1/2 plus 3 1/2 equals 7, subtracted from 30 equals 23. A 32x6 tire goes on a 20" rim. I struggled understanding this till someone explained it to me.

Steve, Thank You for explaining how the tire size is converted, I have a car with 33X6 tires and never understood how they said a 600-21 will fit.---dan

those look like Universals. I like them on early cars as they do not look as "hunky" as the Ex-Size tires that everyone else makes. They look terrific on a car and ride very nicely.

If they've shrunk, they might be old Lester Tires made in the good old USA (Pennsylvania) ! We have them on our '14 Touring & I have a set of extra fronts when the time comes.
