Idea: USA national Model T tour/event calendar
What if we had a global calendar on this Forum that listed all the Model t events around the country in One place so anyone could see all events at a glance for the entire year?
Personally, I try and plan my year around events and it would be amazing if someone from each region could add and edit events in one place so everyone could see them. And include links to signup forms and details, etc.
Im happy to experiment with different implementations on the dev site. Basically, I have 2 other forums I’ve set up, “dev” and “prod”. Dev is the experimentation website I try things on and usually break them continuously until I get them to work. Once it passes the muster and survives my scrutiny, then I put it on the test production site “prod” and have some of you braver guys bang away on it to see if you can break it. If it passes those tests, then I put it on the main site and into global use. This is what I did with the new Gallery. Notice that the Gallery works great and has very few problems, mostly because we vhetted it thoroughly and I fixed the issues before releasing it to the masses.
Not withstanding unforeseen problems like website hackers (yesterday) and bad system design (our hosting provider) that have been plaguing our site recently, this method seems to work well and would be well suited to test a new global calendar feature.
Thoughts/feedback?

Good idea.
May we have a section for 'non-US' chapters, as this may be another way to advertise the events around the world to those of us non-US based users?
Cheers

I don’t see why not...assuming the mod supports it.A Whiteman wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 4:11 amGood idea.

Jeff, It looks like you might be the right person! willing and knowledgeable, cannot ask for much more.
I was reviewing the "Horseless Carriage Gazette" (my first issue), and there was a page dedicated to upcoming events for the year. Each event had about 5 lines; event name, location, dates, and contact info.

I think it is a great idea. Other forums I've seen break such listings up by region which helps a bit. It certainly would help someone plan their summer touring schedule.

Re: Idea: USA national Model T tour/event calendar
This idea has the potential to be very useful, as well as very time-consuming for whoever maintains it. Several clubs other than MTFCA and MTFCI have tours that are Model-T-friendly. HCCA national and regional tours welcome pre-'16 Ts. Snappers, a brass-era group in AACA, also welcomes pre-'16 Ts. A lot of VMCCA tours are friendly to Ts of all years. The nickel-era affiliate of HCCA, and some (not all) regions, welcome later Ts. In most cases, you have to be a member of the national club to participate, but if it opens up more events for you, that's not a burden. Finally, lot of Cars'n'Coffee events just love seeing a real antique among the Mustangs and Porsches and Mag-Wheeled Monsters. Getting all the sponsoring groups to publish their activities on this forum might take some doing, and the list-keeper would have to find a way to make local events easy to find.

I like it. Perhaps events could be listed in two columns, one in order by date and the other by state.
The inevitable often happens.
